As a young teen, I glamorized the idea that falling in love would be as easy as the author said it would be.
Many novels such as "Why We Broke Up" and "Eleanor and Park", show the deep and sometimes ugly side of love that is not broadcasted in the sweet, romantic teen novels. Many books glamorize the idea of a teen romance, but in reality, that is not really how it is. Of course, I realize that the book is labeled in the fiction category, but most of the novel is based on "real" life experience.
But that "real" life experience that is being written about is not reality.
Real love is more than buying someone flowers or taking them on extravagant dates, it's knowing someone's entire soul and putting complete trust in your partner.
Even though books tend to higher your standards to a level that is completely impossible; never lower your standards on qualities you find important, no matter how cute he or she is.
Books that show you the raw side of love are the books you should be taking notes from.
