Graduation is stressful. Getting there is stressful.
The way I picture this path to graduation is taken right out of a movie. Does everyone remember that scene from "The Wolf of Wall Street" where Leonardo DiCaprio takes a certain drug called 'lemons', and he tries to get to his Lamborghini from a hotel lobby? It's the perfect description of how all of us try to graduate. And it doesn't always mean bad. Some people struggle with grades, some with under-socialization, and others over-socialization. There is no one thing in college that makes you suffer.
Everything is an experience somehow. And everyone finds themselves dragging at some point. Law of life. The reason why this scene is so special to me, and not because of the brilliant acting, directing of it, but mainly because of how they finished it. It signifies the perfect way to end our college days. Even though we have reached the end (the Lamborghini), we still need to get that one bump. And it looks exactly like Leonardo DiCaprio getting his foot stuck in the car handle which drags him upside down.
I am pretty sure, when I am done with college I will look like that. At least for a few days.
So wouldn’t you want to end it differently. I mean this scenario is not really inevitable. But what we can do is make the after math better.
I am 377 days away from my day of freedom, and I have already started to plan what I will do. Well I have started constructing options. First, I will leave the ceremony, and get a Carl’s Jr. Burger. Yes, that’s perfect. A burger and some good curly fries, which will be followed by the brilliant food coma I will have.
After that amazing meal and sleep, I still have time. I prospectively have a week I would like to make as amazing as possible. So, these are few ways I will try to make my week after graduation epic.
Go on a cruise
I am not a fan of package deals. In fact, I have always stayed away from them, but being on a cruise sounds amazing. Be in a space where every single person is there to just chill and take the heat off. The environment is amazing, and to be honest something that really sells me to be on a cruise is to look up to the sky while being on the sea. Which I am sure will be astonishing.
Take a road trip
Some people don’t like the water. And yeah I get it. It is not a very safe place. But if I would not want to do the cruise, and still move around, road trips are the best. I am very biased towards food and music, so I would take one to New Orleans. Some jazz and amazing food, with some really good liquor, what is not to like. It is the perfect way to blow off steam.
Take a hiking trip
Now this is a little in combination with the road trip, because you need to get to a hiking place, such as the Grand Canyon. Sign up for the multi-day hiking trip, and be on your way. I personally love nature, and maybe something really clichéd will happen to you. You will find yourself.
Go visit your parents
Parents are a big part of life. You have just stayed away from them for four years, so why not go back to hometown for a couple of days. Cook with your mom, help your dad to fix that car up, or literally anything else to spend time with your old folks. Soon, you will be off to a graduate degree or a job, so why not go back to your childhood for a while, and be a kid again.
Fill up that bucket list
Now this might be a little expensive, but hey! Money is there to spend. I have a few things I need to strike off of the long list. Bungee jumping, underwater sea diving, learn another language, get a tattoo, etc. it can be anything. You could always try to whip some route up where you can start completing your list.
These are just a few ideas how we can make that week amazing. And why not, we all deserve it. So, I am going to go look some up cruise prices or maybe hiking packages. I don’t know. We will see.
