The Beauty Of Freedom
HelpWithTheToughQuestions

Freedom is the right to act, think or speak as one wants without restraint. Freedom is arguably one of the best gifts of life. I am embraced with peace at the reality of open expression I have. The opportunity I have to achieve greatness is never ending and it baffles me. The crazy thing is how many people actually take this gift of freedom for granted.

Around the world there are various cultures. In certain cultures, the way of life can sometimes be the opposite of what we are accustomed to. There are certain countries where it’s the norm for people to be controlled. Just open your eyes to the fact that not everyone on earth can embrace their individuality. Some people are killed for acting on their controversial believe. Here in America there are nearly no limits. I believe that America is about as free as it gets.

Though here in America, we can be blind to our blessings. We have so much accessible to us yet we can still find room to complain about our circumstances. The lifestyle we Americans have has created a comfort of laziness that we all fall victim to at some point. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard. As a nation we are capable of achieving so much more than we know. Together we can redefine what it means to have work ethic.

I have the perception that some other countries dislike Americans. I’m sure that they have their reasons although I’m unsure about what they could be. Maybe it’s because they see our flaws far more clearly than we do ourselves. I want that to change. I want America to stop looking at what everyone else is doing wrong and start looking in the mirror. After all, we are the ones we will be spending the rest of our lives with. Why not put all that energy towards bettering our own country? Most importantly, with all the freedom we have, I don’t see why we shouldn’t.

Don’t get me wrong. I still see value in all the improvements America has made over the years. It’s remarkable and refreshing. The reality of our accomplishments gives me proof that even greater things are instore for us. Once we learn to take full advantage of our freedom we will see the path to our destiny. This life is ours for the taking and I’m so excited for the journey we are on as a country. I just want to remind us all that there are always things we can work on. I want us to remember to be grateful that we are free and to not take that lightly.

Lastly, life is short. I have to make sure that I lived my life to the fullest that I did my part to make a difference and to leave the world a little bit better than I found it before I leave. Since I will never know when my last day is upon me I have to take this time now to use my freedom to open my mouth. I have to let the world know. I have to let my country know. Freedom is a gift, and change is an inevitable way of life. With both we are bound to see, do, create, and become even more miraculous than anyone could’ve ever imagined.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
