I will not and cannot lie to you, there will be people that will walk in and out of your life and they will impact you in a way you never thought possible. In high school I remember my first group of friends; now with almost all of us getting ready to graduate from our last year of college, I can honestly tell you that that group of friends I had will not even give me the time of day. People really do enter and exit our lives for reasons that we may never understand. But what about those select few that just never seem to 100% leave?
Relationships are never easy, whether it is dating another person or just a very good friendship. Whichever the case may be, I can promise you that it is a two way street. You should never be the person to always put in the effort and nothing ever happens on the other person's behalf. But that is not what I'm here to talk about.
There are two relationships in my life that (I am kind of shocked) are still intact. One is my best friend from high school. We met our first day of classes and although we had our ups and downs, she is still there for me when I need her and ever ask for her to be. A friendship like that is one I have been undeniably lucky to have. My second is a relationship that I had when I was a child, simply kicking the soccer ball around and never thinking we would see each other again. I was wrong; we were brought back together by the love of the game. We have been through hell and we keep telling each other that we are done, but there is something so intense, special, and strong about this relationship that we just cannot seem to drift. The reason these two amazing people have not exited my life is one I may never know, but that is the beauty of a relationship like these.
Remember that in relationships, no matter what kind, come fights, laughter, tears, communication, trust, and the undying love to want to keep it. If it does not, then maybe it is not the right one.
I will never be able to give you the answer as to why you cannot stray from your relationship. Maybe some of you can cut the cord and be done with it for good. We all have had those relationships, but the day you find yourself in a relationship that makes you so happy yet want to kill the other person--that is the day that you will know you have entered an incredible and true relationship. Never, ever let go of something like that, because it may be the one thing you regret. However, remember to see the difference between what is real and what we want to be real.
