Ah, snow days: the (typically) unwanted, most dreaded days people can think of. Is it the blustery winds? Having to shovel? Or maybe, for the of-age people, it's having to drive in the pearly white powder. Whatever your reason for hating snow (if you do), I am almost positive that you appreciate the occasional day off it may cause, amirite? But if you don't; if you still are completely and utterly hateful towards anything and everything 'winter', hear me out. There are so many alternative ways to *gasp* enjoy snow days, and maybe, just maybe, if you give one a shot you'll have a change of heart.
1. Doing nothing.
Alright, obviously one of the best ways to spend your snow day is to literally stay in your pajamas, eat on the couch as you please, and allow yourself to enjoy some 'me time'. Lounging around on a day that isn't Saturday or Sunday is simply satisfying, and it gives you the chance to catch up on your favorite show or rewatch your all-time favorite movie for the 47th time.
2. Cooking.
If you're unable to sit in silence for an entire day, I get it. It can literally make you go crazy. So instead of driving yourself mad, find some recipes online that sound appetizing and try them out! Experimenting in the kitchen may be scary, but when you're doing it just because you can, the end result is not of (superior) importance.
3. Crafts.
Some people may think of crafts as boring or childish, and that's fine. But if you loved to draw or color as a child, take some time on a snow day to rekindle that hobby. Or, try something new! The internet is a great place to look for DIY (do it yourself) projects, and there are plenty of ideas out there for you to choose from.
4. Go outside.
I'm sure the snow haters are already questioning why this is even listed, but it can be refreshing to go outside in crisp, fresh air during a snow storm. Even more so, going outside in the snow gives you the perfect excuse to make hot chocolate, tea, or coffee.
5. Try something new.
If a snowstorm is approaching and you're interested in a winter sport such as snowboarding or skiing, it could be really fun to sign up for lessons and give it a try! If you're not the winter-sport type, sledding is a fantastic alternative. Just be sure to gear up in proper attire and use caution!
6. Build a snowman.
Perhaps you'd rather not leave your home. No problem! Instead, you could use the snowfall in your own area to build a snowman or some other snow character. It may be challenging, but trying to do so is better than nothing.
7. Make snowangels.
I used to do this all the time when I was a kid. Before you plop down, be sure that there is sufficient depth to the snow so you don't injure yourself. The only downside to making snowangels is that getting up from the snow can be quite difficult.
8. Have a snowball fight.
You will need a group of people for this, but it is really fun to have to build your own fort, stock up on snowballs, and prepare for battle. If you happen to be snowed in with friends or have neighbors closeby who are down to pick a fight, this is probably the best option for you.
