10 Ways to Add Excitement to your Life
Odyssey

Recently I have started this whole thing where I try to do one new thing each day. It can be as simple as ordering a new kind of tea or taking a new route to class. By trying new things I discover things that I like and dislike while adding a little bit of excitement to my days. You may be someone who does not like change at all and sticks to a strict schedule each day. That is completely fine, but for anyone looking for some ways to spice up your days, give these a try.

1. Make a new playlist

The playlist(s) can be used for your workouts, your showers or to help you focus on homework. If you can find the spare time between work, classes and having a social life try to make multiple playlists.

2. Visit your local library- check out a book or some DVDs

One of my favorite things to do as a child was to visit the library and spend hours looking for books to read for the next few weeks. Recently, I have signed up for a library card at the library in my town. I love to take a walk down there and check out books for pleasure whenever I find time.

3. Write a letter to a friend who lives far away

Being away from home makes it difficult to keep in contact with long distant friends, but I have found that writing letters back and forth is an intimate way to stay in touch, despite the miles.

4. Visit an animal shelter and give the animals some lovin'

If you are an animal lover like me, this is one thing that I would highly recommend. If you are unable to commit to volunteering every week, try once a month. The people at the shelter are usually very accepting of volunteers who have a passion for helping out around the shelter. Plus, you get to play with animals!!

5. Treat yourself to a glass of wine (or four)

This is by far one of my favorite things to do when I get the chance. After a long day of classes and work I like to come home and treat myself to a few glasses of wine. If you do not drink wine substitute it for another beverage or a sweet treat.

6. Take a sunrise hike

Hiking this early in the morning can be a struggle, especially if you do not function well in the morning (like myself). Once you see the amazing view, though, you will be glad that you made it to the top. It is an experience that I would recommend trying at least one time in your life.

7. Try a new exercise program

Let's be honest...exercising is one thing that most of us dread or tend to put off. Working out does not always have to be something that we do not look forward to, though. There are alternative programs, such as Zumba, Cycling or Yoga that keep us engaged but are also more enjoyable than running on a treadmill for 30 minutes straight.

8. Turn all electronics off for a day

If you can go without your phone and laptop/video games for a whole 24-hours I applaud you. This is something that our generation struggles with but I noticed how much better I felt after the day was over. I was able to be in the moment and not constantly be worried about my cellphone.

9. Travel

As a college student, this is one thing that is rather difficult for me to do. I am the kind of person that loves a good road trip or visiting a friend a few states over. Whenever I have an open weekend I love to take a drive somewhere that I have never visited before.

10. Go through your closet

I took about an hour or so sorting through my closet and drawers in order to find clothes that I no longer wear. I felt better after for opening up some space in my room as well as donating the clothes to people that need them more than I do.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
