For most college kids there are only a couple of times we like to hear the words "bad weather." Either when it's in an email from the university canceling classes "due to the bad weather," or when the bad weather falls on a Sunday and we have an excuse to put off all responsibilities due to the bad weather. Unfortunately, I have come to learn that according to this weather report, us college kids in Austin, Texas will be hearing the words "bad weather" for quite some time now
Now the point of this article isn't to bring everyone down with the fact that for the next four days everyone's walks to class will be just a little bit more miserable than usual. The constant rain will do that all on its own. However, just because it's raining doesn't mean you can't still create ways to have a fun week. Here's a list of some of my favorite things to do in the rain.
Have a movie marathon.
Grab some friends and your favorite genre of movies, and spend a couple of hours watching some great movies in your cozy dark apartment. With the rain consistently falling, and your favorite people around you, it'll be a great couple of hours getting out of the rain.
Skip class and watch Netflix.
Forgot to buy an umbrella? Can't find the one you bought in prep for the next few days? Or just want an excuse to not go to that awful class? Don't go! The rainy weather is the perfect excuse. Stay in bed, turn on some Netflix, and enjoy your day of "you time."
Take a couple of naps.
Because sleeping while it's raining results in the best sleep every time.
Run through the puddles.
Pull on those cute rain boots, and run through puddles. Jump, splash, kick, dance, etc. through the puddles, and bring out that inner kid.
My all-time favorite: Go "Singing in the Rain."
Forget the rain boots and the umbrella, and just go run, dance and sing in the rain. It'll be so worth it, and so much fun. Just make sure to eat some warm chicken noodle soup and drink warm hot chocolate afterward.
