8 Ways To Make 2016 The Most Memorable Year Yet

1. Follow your heart

In 2016, vow to follow your heart. Don’t be afraid of what people will say or how people will act. If you like that boy, go for it! If you want to wear a purple sparkly tutu, go for it! When you follow your heart and do more of what you want, you end up finding your true friends and becoming more of the person that you are supposed to be. Don’t be hesitant out of fear because you may be surprised at what happens when you follow your heart.

2. Be more adventurous

Go bungee jumping, or skydiving or whatever thrills you. Have you ever gone on a roller coaster? If not, do it! Adding adventure to your life can lead to crazy experiences and stories and some major adrenaline rushes. When thinking of adventure ask yourself, “What’s the worst that could happen?” Can you live with the answer? If so, go for it! Why not spice up 2016 with a crazy experience that you never thought you would do? Conquer the fear and go for it!

3. Put yourself first

2016 more than anything else should be the year of you. Put yourself first and don’t let anyone or anything take advantage of you. Once you start to realize your true self-worth and importance, you’ll realize that you are worth the world. Find the boy who will move mountains for you. Find the friends who will be there for you at 2:00 p.m. when you want to spontaneously get ice cream or at 3:00 a.m. when you are crying over your boy problems. Make yourself your top priority for the year and you will be amazed at the independence and feeling of amazingness that comes from this.

4. Experience passion

Learn to define passion for yourself. Indulge in something that you are completely passionate about. Whether it be painting, reading, a friendship or a relationship: GO FOR IT! Find what you are passionate about and become even more passionate. Learn everything there is to know about what makes you passionate. When you learn what you are passionate about, you can find others who share this passion and embark on a new journey with new friends.

5. Be yourself

Live by the famous Gavin DeGraw song lyrics, “I don’t wanna be anything other than what I’ve been tryna be lately.”

Be yourself because chances are a lot of people think that the unique person that you are is pretty awesome! Even when you don’t feel like that sometimes, there is always someone out there who thinks you are the bee’s knees! Be you, do you and if anyone has a problem with it, you don’t need those who don’t build you up in your life.

6. Leave the past in the past

The year is 2016. Leave the drama in 2015. All the people who’ve wronged you, all the messes that you’ve been in, the bad grades you’ve gotten, the stresses, the bad relationships, all of it. Leave it in the past. It’s time to move on from all of that negativity and let 2016 be the year of good vibes. Don’t hang on to the stuff that kept you down last year.

Let it go (just like Elsa did in Frozen), make peace with it and show all the things that kept you down who's in charge.

7. Go on a vacation with your best friends or at least, go exploring.

Go out and explore the world, or at least, a new place. You would be surprised at the random cool little spots that you can find around your town. Gather up your girlies (or homies, if you’re a boy) and go adventuring. Plan a weekend beach trip. Rent a cabin for the weekend. Presence is always 100 percent better than presents (or clothes or shoes) so save up and plan a cool trip with friends. Not only will you enjoy it while you are there but it will give you a lifetime worth of memories and stories.

8. Be present...put down your phone!

We’ve all seen the tweet that says we like to be around people who make us forget to look at our phones so let's stop tweeting about it and become those people. In 20 years, we won't remember how many likes we got on our last Instagram photo but we will remember the moment that we took that photo with our friends.

When you are with the people who mean the most to you, put down the phone and be present. Enjoy the company of your friends or boyfriend/girlfriend or parents or siblings or even your grandparents. They won’t be around forever and you will be forever grateful for the time that you did get to spend with them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
