1. Do not wear bright red lipstick to the first day.

It is going to get stuck on your teeth and you will always be known as the girl who can’t figure it out.

2. Put little Listerine strips in your pocket so your breath doesn't smell like complete dog shit.

And because chomping on gum the whole time makes you look lowkey stupid.

3. Do not talk about what your daddy does for work to be able to afford that ugly Louis Vuitton bag you throw around or how much fun you have at your country club.

Please talk about things that matter not just money.

4. Do not ask about hazing.

5. Do not talk about how drunk you got at a frat house the night before.

We all are frat rats. We know what happens there.

6. Do not talk about girl fights or roommate problems.

You’ll seem like you love drama or problems and honestly, no one wants to deal with that.

7. Literally, do not go into it expecting to be loved by every house you go to.

They honestly may think you suck and another house will think you rock. And vice versa... some houses are absolutely horrifying. I remember saying I wanted one house and I walked out of the first night freaked out.

8. Go into it with an open mind.

I didn’t even know my sorority was so cool until I realized I did not have to try to have a conversation there. After the first night, my plans for rush completely changed and that is completely fine. You will find where you click. It is so dorky and cliche when people say “when you know, you’ll know” but you literally just know.

I walked into my house and talked about Taco Bell for fifteen minutes while at another house I talked about where I got my jumpsuit and the huge sale at Banana Republic the whole time. I hate Banana Republic.... I wanted to end my life on the spot and run back to the house that could keep up with how much I love a crunch wrap supremes. You will find your people.

9. Even if you don’t love a house, do not be rude.

There is nothing more disrespectful than someone saying or acting like they don't want to be somewhere. I remember walking out of a house I did not particularly love but my friend did. I watched her light up when she spoke about it and why would you want to take that away from someone?

Every house is different and wonderful to someone. Whether it is the top tier or the bottom, someone loves being there. So don't be a bitch about not liking a house.

10. If it doesn’t work out, being a GDI is cool too.

No rules, no obligations, no payments and hey, you can always re-rush if you want to the next year. It isn't the end of the world to be in a sorority. I have friends of different personalities, chapters, and organizations... that's what makes college so fun. Be diverse!

So from a girl who never thought a sorority was for her, just know you'll find your place. Whether it is your path to join a sorority or to frolic in the land of independence, going through rush is an experience in itself and everyone should consider going for it. Step outside your comfort zone. Why not, right? Smile, hang in there and good luck. This won't make or break your college experience.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
