I have found that the most frustrating part of college is explaining why Wawa is so great to everyone who has never experienced it. When people ask “Why do you like Wawa so much?” I always have to take a few moments to collect my thoughts so that I can completely blow their mind with the awesomeness that is Wawa. I’ve decided that it’s time for me to put all my reasons into a narrative so that I may share it with everyone and hopefully enlighten a few minds.
To start off, Wawas are basically delis/mini marts, some with gas pumps and some without. A reason that they are so popular is because they are so convenient. If you were to drive through my town, there is a minimum of four Wawas on a five mile stretch of road and all of them are packed round the clock. Wawas are always clean and you don’t feel gross when you have to use the bathrooms. Their service is awesome, and it’s a rare occasion where you come across a grumpy or rude Wawa employee.
Wawas are also known for their amazing variety of products. They have a menagerie of drinks, freshly brewed coffee, Icees, milkshakes, smoothies, pastries, donuts, hot dogs, snacks, cooking ingredients, solo cups, and a large variety of tobacco products (stay away from those). That’s just a sampling of what they carry; I couldn’t possibly list everything they have. What they are known for the most however is their deli counter. I call Wawa "The Promised Land" due to the fact that they make some of the best quality sandwiches around. And it’s not just sandwiches at the deli counter, they have everything from mouthwatering quesadillas to delicious soups and sides. Basically anything that you can think of, they have. I haven’t even mentioned the best part yet either; you order everything at the deli through a touch screen. You also get to customize everything you order and there are thousands of possible combinations with sizes, fillings, and condiments. I know, because I’ve tried most of them. If you are in a rush, however, and don’t feel like waiting for the artisan behind the counter to create a piece of art, they also have pre-made sandwiches and wraps, which are also fantastic. (I’m a fan of their pre-made chicken caesar wrap.)
As you check out, they also have some tasty soft pretzels that they sell at the cash register that are a really great deal. To sum it all up, Wawa is the ideal store for everyone. It’s almost a guarantee that you’ll find something you like, and will keep going back for more. If you have not yet been to Wawa, I highly recommend you find one nearest to you and try it out.
My five favorite things to get at Wawa:
- Toasted Whole Wheat: classic roll, chicken salad, buffalo bleu sauce, American cheese, and cucumbers.
- Toasted White: classic roll, chicken strips, tomato sauce, American cheese, and mayo.
- Chicken Caesar Wrap (pre-made).
- Peaches and Cream fruit smoothie (handmade).
- A Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak.
