Wavy hair is often overlooked like the red-headed step child. We see article upon article on curly hair, how to care for curly locks, and how curly hair girls are the best. If it isn't curly hair, it is straight hair which often follows with "straight hair probs."
Enough.
It's our turn now. Fellow wavy-hairs unite with all the frizziness that we are! No, our hair is not perfectly straight (even though we wish it was) nor is it perfectly curly (we wish this too)! But we are stuck in the middle. We shampoo our hair only to come out and have it naturally dry into a lion's mane. The frizz is uncontrollable, our hair is straight in some places, but there can also be prefect ringlets in other sections. The remainder is a combination of the two. Wavies, you can relate to some of these:
1. One does not just simply "brush ones hair."
2. Styling hair is a must, otherwise you look like you just rolled out of bed.
This one is self-explanatory. We do not get the luxury of just rolling out of bed, brushing our hair, and voila! We are ready for the day. We usually roll out of bed, look at the disaster that has happened while you were sleeping (it didn't look like that eight hours ago), and decide on whether a bun, a ponytail, or a hat can hide the mess.
3. Frizzy is your hairs favorite daily style.
Our frizzy hair cannot be tamed. You have google/binged/cha cha-ed/asked Jeeves for a solution for your strands but to no avail. No amount of keratin oil, hairspray, or sea spray can keep it down. If it does, that probably means you need to re-wash your hair and start the process over again because your hair has so much product in it.
4. Rain and humidity is the enemy.
Especially if you live in the Midwest or the South. Your strands will do whatever they please and there's nothing you can do to stop the fuzz that is your hair.
5. Don't even think about bangs.
You see them on someone else and think it's a good idea... until your first day without styling them. The ends dry in opposite directions and you look like you are in 5th grade again.
6. We can't just run our fingers through it.
It somehow gets thicker and frizzier with every stroke. So unless you don't plan on leaving the house that day, you are safe.
7. The curls in your hair can never be seen.
There are perfect little ringlets, but they are under your mop of a top layer. Our precious gems get hidden, so we either have to curl the top layer or straighten our whole head if we want to look good. Usually, we don't even bother because of the time that is consumed in the process.
8. Every time you shampoo you think THIS is the time my hair will dry perfect.
Wrong. Every time.
9. Wavy buns are not as flattering as straight buns.
When we try to make a hair bun, we do not look like our straight-haired counterparts. What is a sleek, top knot to them is a rats nest to us. If we want a *~chic~* up-do, that requires straightening and/or curling to achieve the perfect up-do.
10. You have enough products to open your own salon.
Oils, serums, creams, heat protector, deep-conditioners, gels, hair treatments, hair sprays, sea spray, straightening creams/shampoos/conditioners, curling creams/ shampoos/ conditioners, the list goes on forever. Does any of it work? No, not usually. Are you going to still use it? Yes, until there is a cure for wavy hair.
