Waking Up Late

What happens when you wake up late?

I wake up to my annoying alarm in a panic since I am a bit confused on what is going on.

“Crap, I am gonna be late.”

I tell myself as I try to open my eyes big enough to see the Dismiss option.

How did I miss every one of my alarms? I can’t afford to be late again, it will definitely drop my grade down a level. Okay, should I just leave the house like this? It’s not like anyone cares what I look like. As I face the mirror I realized I look like a zombie/ homeless mutant. My hair looks like if I just wrestled a wild animal while my shirt looks like I just fed a toddler.

Ok well maybe I should put on a less stained shirt, I don’t want to scare my baby sister when I leave. I look for hair tie around the piles of dishes on my dresser with sticky notes, bobby pins, and pieces of jewelry scattered around. I find one about to rip, but I figure I just won’t tie my hair too tight.

Okay, now where did I put my keys? I remember I got home last night and I threw them on my bed. Well, this is going to be an adventure, I just made enough room for me to lay down last night. I remove every piece of clothing article off of my bed along with papers and books I need. Oh, here are my favorite pairs of jeans, I can wear that tonight. Hm, I think this paper was due last week, I will need to double check on that. Aaah here they are.

I put on my white converse and leave my room. As I am about to open the front door I hear a voice directed at me.

“Honey, where are you going in such a rush?”
“To class mom, I am running really late.”
“But Rebecca, it's Saturday.”
I can’t help but roll my eyes in annoyance.
“Oh..ok… well, I am going back to sleep.”

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
