Alert alert "Space Jam II" has been confirmed, our wildest dreams have come true!
We have all been waiting for this for 20 years: a sequel to the cinematic classic "Space Jam" is confirmed to be in production, this time starring Cleveland Cavaliers forward Lebron James. James has been very open in expressing his interest in doing a sequel, and his minor, but well-played role in Amy Schumer's hit movie "Trainwreck" has proved that he is capable of handling the big screen. However, just this past week, Justin Lin of "Fast and Furious 6" fame has signed on to direct, confirming suspicions and cementing production plans.
In case the 20-year wait has caused some slight memory loss, here's a brief recap: evil aliens try to kidnap the Looney Tunes gang to bring them back to their boss's financially ailing amusement park planet. However, the gang manages to make a deal with the aliens: their fate will be decided by a basketball game. The aliens steal the abilities of other famous 90's basketball players (Muggsy Bogues, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Shawn Bradley and Larry Johnson) so naturally the Looney Tunes kidnap Micheal Jordan and force him to play with them on their Tune Squad. Good prevails over evil with the longest cinematic five seconds in history and the movie ends with Jordan coming out of retirement and triumphantly returning to the NBA.
However, while Space Jammers (Is this the term for those in the fandom? Is there a fandom?) are rejoicing at the fact that the circulating rumors have finally been confirmed and the sequel that we have been waiting for 20 years will soon be with us, there are still a couple of very important questions that need answering.
Will the legendary Bill Murray be making an appearance?
Similarly, will the guy who plays Newman in Seinfeld play a role in the sequel?
Will other famous NBA-ers play minor roles, as in the original?
Will Lebron follow even further in Micheal Jordan's footsteps and start doing Hanes commercials.
Will the sequel keep the same bangin' theme song? Will they update it? Will they remake it?
Finally, will there be a bulldog in this movie? If so, may I suggest the perfect bulldog to play the role?
