Colleges are SUPER competitive with each other, especially schools within the same state. Virginia has several amazing schools, so of course they are all hella competitive. They all think they are the best, but there are definitely some that are better than others. Just like in Game of Thrones, Virginia schools all argue over who deserves to be on top. Who will win the game and sit on the Iron Throne? SPOILERS AHEAD!

Virginia Tech - House Lannister

The Lannisters currently hold the Iron Throne, just like Virginia Tech thinks they are the king of all colleges in Virginia. Their colors are even super similar! However, we all know who the REAL heir to the throne is...

University of Virginia - House Targaryen

The real heir to the throne of Westeros (aka Virginia) is of course UVA. They are the O.G. royal school, and even though they get killed in football every time they play VT, just like Jaime Lannister slayed King Aegon Targaryen, they are will always be the true King of Virginia!

James Madison University - House Baratheon

JMU sure knows how to have a good time, just like Robert Baratheon with his many whores and daily drinking festivities. JMU is also the place where you just might die because of the excessive partying. Dead, just like the Baratheon House!

Old Dominion University - House Martell

ODU, just like the Martell's, is down south near the beach. They don't really bother anyone. They're too busy getting tan and being reminded that they aren't good enough to be in any other school, I mean "house".

Christopher Newport University - House Tyrell

Just like house Tyrell, CNU is a school that just recently became popular and people usually forget about it. However, just like the Tyrells, CNU is absolutely gorgeous and is quickly becoming just as strong and powerful as other 200 year old schools in Virginia.

College of William and Mary - Maesters at the Citadel

W&M is way too smart to be any stupid house fighting for some pointless Iron Throne. William and Mary, just like the Maesters at the Citadel are the smartest and wisest in the land. They give up their lives to devote themselves to their studies. They're way too busy finding the cure to cancer or greyscale.

Virginia Commonwealth University - House Stark

VCU, like the Starks, are wholesome dudes. They don't really feel the need to be on the throne, but they are still a large top school in Virginia. They do their thing in Richmond, which like the North, is a place entirely of it's own, completely different from the rest of the state.

George Mason University - House Arryn

GMU hangs out high in their mountain tower, aka NOVA, above the rest of the state acting like they are the best because they are close to D.C. and Miley Cyrus visited their campus once. But they will never be on the top like UVA, VT, and JMU. We'll just leave them alone and keep letting them act like they're better than everyone else.

University of Mary Washington - House Tully

Just like House Tully, no one really remembers that UMW actually exists. But these are some chill dudes that don't really bother anyone. Keep being chill.

Liberty University - The Faith Militant

Like William and Mary, Liberty is not a House, but rather a group of religious fanatics. These dudes are fucking crazy. Point blank.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
