So you’re single on Valentine’s Day? No problem! Plenty of us are, and I promise, there are worse things in the world. But that doesn’t mean you have to sulk in your room and watch Netflix all night! There are still plenty of ways for you to have fun on February 14th. Here are six great things you can do on Valentine’s Day without a Valentine.
1. “Treat Yo’self”
So you’ve been under a lot of stress lately? Valentine’s Day is a great time to not only show those around you that you love them, but also to remember how much you care about your own well-being! Whether it’s cooking your favorite meal, binge-watching your favorite Netflix show and cuddling with your pet, or pampering yourself with a hot bath and a facial, it’s time for you to “treat yo’self.”
2. Do something nice for those around you.
Valentine’s Day is all about showing love to those around you. Why not spread some of that love through kindness and generosity? Take time to give back to your community through soup kitchens, clothing or food drives, etc., or help out a friend with a project. Leave your siblings small notes around the house reminding them how much they mean to you, or offer to cook dinner for your parents. Giving back is the best kind of love.
Chances are, you know plenty of other people just like you who don’t have a Valentine. Get together with them and plan a night out that you definitely won’t forget! If you live somewhere warm, head over to the nearest beach. If you live in chillier temperatures, go skiing or ice skating. A night downtown is always a blast, too!
4. Plan an adventure.
Got a car and a full tank of gas? Plan a road trip or an adventure with your closest friends. Head to the nearest big city to explore the nightlife, visit places you’ve never been before right where you live, or pick a completely random destination and see where you end up. Heck, you could even make a weekend out of it! Either way, it’s bound to be a day full of memories.
5. Have a movie night.
Plenty of great movies have come out within the last few months. Rent a few DVDs (or use on-demand), make some popcorn, sit back, and relax. Or, head out to the nearest movie theater and see a new release. Whether you choose to watch romantic comedies, the latest thrillers, or tearful heart breakers, you won’t find yourself bored on Valentine’s Day with a stack of movies.
6. Spend the day with your best friend.
If you don’t have a romantic partner right this very moment, your best friend is probably one of the most important people in your life. Get your nails done, go out to dinner, see a movie, attend a sporting event, head to a concert, or just stay in! Whatever you decide to do, you’ll be with your best friend who, let’s be honest, is probably your Valentine anyway.
