Valentine's Day Is The Worst Holiday, Like, Ever

Many people view Valentine's day as a day of love and flowers and chocolate. Well, let me tell you why Valentine's Day is the actual worst.

Valentine's Day Is The Worst Holiday, Like, Ever

When you first watch this video, Valentine's day actually isn't that bad. However, the purpose is now consumerism, not to celebrate St. Valentine. So many people complain about people who are materialistic or people who take part in the consumer society, however, many of those same people who disagree with it, are the same people who take part as well. The National Retail Foundation is projecting sales to surpass $20 billion this year. That same money could be used for so many other things. Many people also like to complain about Flint, Michigan still not having water, maybe instead of spending a lot of money on Valentine's gifts, maybe put it towards a Go Fund Me or a relief organization.

Dogs. So many people gift puppies for Valentine's and just like gifts, end up being thrown out. Right after Christmas, and right after Valentine's shelters are overrun with puppies and kittens. Yes they can be a great gift for some, but make sure the person you are gifting one too is prepared financially, and that they understand the care, and attention that go into having a puppy/kitten.

If you're single, the day starts to feel more depressing than exciting. However, being single shouldn't be a bad thing. Embrace it, if you need ways to embrace being alone on Valentine's Day, check out my other article "11 Dates Totally Acceptable To Go On Alone, On Valentines Or Any Day."

Valentine's day also shouldn't be a day where you make your spouse feel bad because they didn't go all out. Yes, it would be nice to be pampered by your significant other, however, that is something that can happen every day. There shouldn't only be one day where your significant other decides to pay attention to you. With Valentine's Day comes outrageous expectations. It has lost its romance, instead of being about love and affection it is now an obligation.

I'm not saying that everyone should hate Valentine's Day. It does have some positives to it, but for some people, it can be a lot easier to hate it than it is to love what the holiday has become. The change that can be made if the money is allocated to other things, could be huge.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
