Utah Women Are Grabbing Back and Fighting for Equality

On January 23rd, Utah women, men, and children joined the rest of the world and marched for women's rights. Over 6,000 people marched through the streets of Salt Lake City, until they filled the state capitol and listened to keynote speakers discuss equal rights. Read the stories, thoughts, and reasons why attendees marched below:

Alex H: "I march with my mom because she made me a feminist."

Robyn A: "For my daughters, granddaughters, and everyone else."

Rebecca B: "I marched for these rights in 1969, and I don't want to see them taken away."

Leah W: "Equal rights for all."


Susan S: "We are marching for rights we attained 30 years ago."

Soryn M: "Planned Parenthood and equal rights."

Morgaine D: "I'm marching because we deserve democracy."

Dominic H: "I'm marching for marginalized people and I don't want to see the progress we've made be lost."

Kate B: "I march against hate and bigotry."

Hailey G: "Regulate air quality, not bodies!"

Suzanne A: "I believe our civil rights and democracy are in jeopardy."

Jeanne P: "Trump believes global warming is a Chinese conspiracy."

Ellie S: "For the environment and because Trump distrust of the media so we can't watch him."

Melissa M: "LGBT rights, reproductive rights, women's rights and basic human rights. Oh, and science is real..."

Nicole F: "Women's rights, healthcare, and climate change."

Kyra S: "Equality for everybody!"

Colin D: "I'm here for all my friends and loved ones threatened by our political climate."

Jessica P: "I want to see more women in office in Utah."

Robbie P: "Because it is the right thing to do."
