UNITE: National Day of Prayer

May 5 was National Day of Prayer, an annual occurrence since 1952 that invites people of all faiths to pray for the nation. On this day in 2016, more than 10,000 people gathered in Minneapolis, MN for UNITE: a night of prayer, worship and community. My heart was overwhelmed in the best way possible as we lifted up our nation and generation to the King of Kings.

The event took place at the University of Minnesota's campus at Mariucci Arena. It was incredibly humbling to be surrounded by people of all ages, but especially thousands of college-aged young adults, who dedicated their entire night to prayer and praise. The event featured speakers/prayer leaders and music by Elevation Worship, KB, Trip Lee and the UNITE Worship band.

UNITE was founded by organization PULSE, which was created by UNITE 2016 speaker and leader Nick Hall. Nick's ministry began to gain momentum during his college years after he wrote a paper about how to reach his generation with the Gospel. The paper went viral among students and over the next few years PULSE was formed as a non-profit, launching across college universities and impacting thousands for Christ.

In 2009 PULSE became one of the largest student-led evangelism movements in American history. It then eventually opened a national office in Minneapolis, MN to start expanding the movement coast to coast. Everything PULSE does is about sharing Jesus -- from

college campuses to concert arenas, churches to music festivals, in the U.S. and overseas. PULSE created UNITE as a night for all generations, denominations and backgrounds in the Twin Cities to come together under one God.

National Day of Prayer in Minnesota was moving, wondrous and so much fun. It's difficult to sum up the event, experience and emotions inadequate words but the whole night was such a glimpse of Heaven. The atmosphere was alive as people everywhere were so excited and on fire for God. The worship music touched many as it was saturated with God's Spirit, transforming and so anointed.

One of my absolute favorite highlights of the concert was being in the very front row with my cousins. We lined up early for the event because it was free and a first-come-first-served kind of event (still can't get over how incredible the experience was, for FREE) and as soon as the doors opened we literally ran inside up the stairs and then into the arena with hundreds of others. It was like nothing I've ever seen before, and I have been to a lot of concerts. I was so in awe of how so many people were stoked for a Christian concert; I've seen fangirls at a typical boyband concert freak out, but this type of energy was all-out, highly infused with enthusiasm and for no one other than God himself. I loved every part of it.

UNITE was one of the best concert events I have been to. Elevation Worship was my favorite band of the night, I loved how everyone was so excited to worship God and gather in surrender to Him. There was so much joy in the room as they took the stage and gave their all for Christ. I love the way they worship; the evidence of God was all around.

During one part of the night, Nick Hall encouraged everyone to resubmit their lives to Christ and say aloud areas of their life they wanted to rededicate. He said, "Jesus offers each of us a reset. Who in this room is in need of a reset?" It was amazing to see God working through His Spirit in those around me. At first, people called out things quietly, then the atmosphere changed as it began to grow stronger as people yelled out things all across the arena like "God reset my anger," "God reset passions," "reset my hope in You," "reset my relationships" and "reset my life." During this moment, those who wanted God to work in their lives shined a light for all to see.

Overall, the event was amazing. The quality was top notch production wise and the artist line-up was great. It was an awesome concert and just an all around fun time.

The night ended with KB and Trip Lee. Two Christian rappers who are absolutely on fire for God and had the full intent of getting the crowd to "turn up" for Jesus. The end of the concert was so crazy, everyone in the place was jumping and dancing, the lights were flashing and the music pumping. It was like a full-on Christian rave.

"Any moment spent in the presence of God is not wasted, it's invested" -- Steven Furtick, Pastor of Elevation Church and Elevation Worship.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
