The Ultimate Struggles That Tall Girls Face

You're always supposed to love the body that you're in, but sometimes it's hard.

Girls are always told to love their bodies and to be happy in the skin that they're in. While I believe that girls should be happy with themselves, I also know firsthand how hard it is at times to be happy with yourself. Everyone has flaws, and at times those flaws can really bother an individual. Some girls have these aspects that have both pros and cons; for any girl, I think height is one of those aspects. While being tall can come in handy at times, I have definitely faced a lot of cons that I'm sure all girls have faced.

1. High heels will make you feel like a giant.

Wearing flats is the easiest way to match up with shorter girls who wear heels. But heels and wedges are much more fun to try on, wear, and shop for. Even though they may hurt after a while, heels are much more stylish, but once a tall girl puts them on, they feel like a skyscraper. We constantly battle between what we want to wear and the consequences of wearing what we want.

2. Rompers will never be in your wardrobe.

Every tall girl has tried on a romper hoping to look fantastic in the new trend. Once we put it on, we realize it is virtually impossible for us to pull it off. Every time we see them in the stores, we try them on again hoping maybe something has changed. News Flash... nothing has changed.

3. Dating a guy shorter than you is the ultimate nightmare.

I mean do you know how hard it is for a girl to slow dance with a guy shorter than them? It has always been the social norm that the male is taller than the female. Every girl has requirements for the guy that they see themselves with. For most tall girls, a tall guy is a huge necessity. When a girl starts to develop feeling for a guy shorter than them, height is what is constantly on their mind. When you hug and kiss them, you don't want to lean down do you? No, you wanna look up and put your arms around them!

4. Everything is shorter on you, it's not your fault!

I'm sure every girl remembers the finger tip rule from their earlier years of education. Tall girls really got the short end of the stick there. The majority of the time, tall girls have long legs which cause apparel to appear shorter on their bodies than others. If you take the same pair of shorts and give one pair to a girl 5'2" and one pair to a girl 5'8", the shorts are definitely going to appear shorter on the taller girl, and the shorter girl will be able to wear the shorts to school.

5. In any performance, you are put in the back because others wouldn't be seen behind you.

From chorus concerts, to dance recitals you have never known what it was like to be front and center in a performance. Due to your height, you are always put in the back so that everyone else can be seen. The same goes for when you are going to see a performance. Many times there are children or shorter people standing behind you that are unable to see. But sometimes you just can't make everyone else happy and have to focus on having a good time for yourself. If you're standing right next to the stage at a concert, no one can expect you to move for them. And if they do, well they're just stupid.

6. Oftentimes, your pants will not fit as they should.

Yoga pants and jeans will never come all the way down to your feet. When your sitting in class you pants will be up to your ankle and as much as you keep trying to pull them down, they will continue to rise up. This isn't much of a problem in the winter when everyone is wearing boots; in the summer when you're wearing flip flops, it is much more noticeable and aggravating. This includes maxi-dresses as well. We all love maxi-dresses, but good luck finding one that fits just as you expect.

7. The awkward hugs that lead their head into your chest.

I'm sure this example is pretty self-explanatory.

8. Nothing feels more uncomfortable than taking a picture with a girl much shorter than you.

When you have shorter friends and you all want to take a picture together, it is absolutely impossible not to stand out. That's why the tall girls normally stay in the center, so the shorter girls can go around them to make it seem less awkward. When in doubt, bend down or squat.

9. And you never let anyone convince you to sit in the middle in the back seat.

With the console in the center, there's just no leg room at all. Request the front seat at all times. As long as you can avoid the center, you will survive!

10. Shaving is a huge time commitment and requires perseverance.

There's just so much more leg to cover! But you gotta do what you gotta do.

These are just ten of the many struggles that tall women face on a day-to-day basis. Regardless of the many struggles we will face, we have to remember that no one has it perfect; short girls have their struggles, too. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. So buy the clothes that make you feel comfortable, do what you love, and don't let anyone put you down. When you're feeling insecure, just remember that most supermodels are tall girls!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
