The Ultimate Brunch Playlist

Brunch is one of the most highly anticipated events of every week. It is more than a meal—it is a social hour. Nothing sets the tone for the day quite like a good playlist, especially when you pair that playlist with food. Breakfast food. Here are 25 songs that have been or should be played at brunch, the most important meal for the soul.

25. "In Too Deep" by Sum 41

Brunch is all about being face deep in scrambled eggs and waffles.

24. "Amnesia" by 5 Seconds of Summer

There is likely some part of the night before that I wish to forget about.

23. "Rhythm of Love" by Plain White T’s

I do not actually know the words to this song, but I always try to sing them anyway.

22. "S.O.S." by The Jonas Brothers

"Love Bug" or "Burning Up" are also acceptable.

21. "Smile" by Uncle Kracker

I love singing this to my hungover friends.

20. "Gold Digger" by Kanye West

A small dose of Kanye never hurt anyone.

19. "Better Together" by Jack Johnson

Everyone is better with Jack Johnson playing.

18. "Complicated" by Avril Lavigne

I cannot think of any scene or situation that would not benefit from an Avril Lavigne song.

17. "White Houses" by Vanessa Carlton

Google it.

16. "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5

Nothing better on a Sunday morning.

15. "7 Years" by Lukas Graham

A new favorite song of mine that fits the brunch vibe fairly well.

14. "Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows

A little bit of a change in pace is good in the morning.

13. "Riptide" by Vance Joy

I can nod my head along to this when my mouth is full of waffles.

12. "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift

Honestly, any Taylor Swift song is welcomed in high doses. See ya, Kanye.

11. "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson

Take a chance, get the second waffle.

10. "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5

This is always a crowd-pleaser.

9. "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran

I am working on learning the moves to the music video.

8. "Drops of Jupiter" by Train

Everyone knows (or pretends to know) all the words to this one.

7. "Fireflies" by Owl City

This played the other week at brunch and it just seemed fitting.

6. "Cecilia and the Satellite" by Andrew McMahon

I am guilty of singing this in my best (loudest) voice.

5. "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)" by Nine Days

The girl in this song seems like an even bigger mess than me, which is always comforting to hear.

4. "It Wasn’t Me" by Shaggy

Honestly, it probably was me.

3. "Banana Pancakes" by Jack Johnson

I prefer chocolate chip waffles, but you get the idea.

2. "Beautiful Soul" by Jesse McCartney

A serenade by Jessee McCartney is the best way to start the day.

1. "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield

This is a very underrated motivational song.

Make brunch great again.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
