The next three UFC events are stacked with great fights for the summer. 198 through 200 will be a must for avid watchers due to all of the great match-ups. Honestly, if you put together all three cards, it could create a super card in my opinion. We can easily break them down and talk about all three and my most anticipated fights of the summer.
UFC 198: May 14: I honestly am so excited to watch Werdum and Miocic. Both heavyweights know how to put on a good show. With Werdum being the current champ and having a record of 20-5-1, he has more experience compared to Miocic with his record being 14-2-0. We can see a lot of new vs old guard match-ups. Meaning that some of the fights consist of up and coming fighters versus more experienced ones.
We can see from the rest of the card that Souza vs. Belfort and Silva vs. Hall will also be very interesting fights to watch. Anderson Silva and Uriah Hall are great fighters, and I am really excited to see this match up. Cyborg also making her comeback is something that I have been anticipating and I am definitely ready to see how her return to the Octagon goes.
UFC 199: June 4th: The amount of match-ups are equal to 198, making for another super stacked card. I personally am ready to see Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber in the octagon. With Cruz's comeback taking the UFC by storm, I am ready to see how Faber will react with Cruz. This fight will finally close their trilogy seeing who is the better fighter. Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman will for sure be a battle due to the stamina of both fighters.
There are definitely a few more fights I am anticipating, those being Dan Henderson and Hector Lombard; along with BJ Penn and Dennis Silver. I also feel that Brian Ortega has a lot to prove having his 10-0-0 record versus Clay Guida's 32-13-0. But we have learned just because someone has more experience doesn't mean that are a shoe-in to win. The octagon always proves to be unpredictable.
Another great fight is Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar. We haven't seen Aldo since his defeat against Conor McGregor in UFC 194. I feel that he is back and ready to take on #2 featherweight Frankie Edgar to claim his dominance in the octagon. I also cannot wait to watch Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne. Mainly because they are both powerhouses and have put on such great fights before.
Johny Hendricks also being on the card rounds up UFC 200 being majorly anticipated to many viewers. His opponent Kelvin Gastelum may have less fights under his belt, but has shown to be a champion after winning the Ultimate fighter.
As many may know, the main fight on the card was supposed to be Conor McGregor vs. Nick Diaz 2. But because of issues with Connor's training schedule, no promos were filmed and the fight was scratched from the card. We cannot deny the talent exuded by both fighters, and I hope to see them both back in the octagon soon.
