It's now March, and you know what that means? Spring is upon us all! Spring is, by far, my favorite season. flowers bloom and grow, the days get longer and most importantly, it's warm. Well, except in here in South Carolina, where it was 80 degrees a couple times in January and February -- nevertheless, I'm sure everyone is tired of the doom and gloom that is winter. But aside from the pretty flowers and the newborn animals, the warmer weather means cute new fashions! As much as I love boots, the thing I think about when spring comes is that I get to wear sandals again. And me, being the fashionista that I claim to be (in my head), I'm here to help everyone pick out the right sandals for the season. Here are six types of sandals you MUST have for spring.
1. Peep-Toe Sandals
Yes, they're sandals! And they serve a major purpose. For one, if it's a little too chilly and you probably shouldn't be wearing sandals (trust me, we've all been there), you can pull out your peep toes. It hints at a sandal without the full-on strappy goodness of a gladiator. Also, if you just happen to have this toenail color that you're not sure you love, try it out in peep toe before you show the world. Peep toes also come in handy for when most of your toenail polish has rubbed off all except your first two toes. Nobody has to know but you, it's great!
2. T-Strap Sandals
T-strap sandals are a must! They work well with dresses as well as pants, which I think is important for spring since no one can ever really predict the weather. While being versatile, they are also usually flat or lower in heel height than many other types of sandals so that makes them more practical for everyday wear. In the spring and summer, these are usual my go-to when I'm running out the door.
3. Wedges
Being that I am 5'4" and very sad about my height, I love heels. But typical stilettos are just not my style. That being said, I am all for a wedge sandal! It gives you the height that you would get with a stiletto but you don't have to worry about your heels breaking and they're much easier to walk in. It's a win-win for you, honestly! Also, wedges are very easy to dress up so they would be good for dinner party or garden party or, if open toed shoes are allowed, an office setting!
4. Gladiator Sandals
When this trend reemerged a few years ago, I was very excited. Gladiator sandals are often flat as well so they can be comfortable for the wearer. However, they are much more of a statement sandal than their t-strap cousins. All gladiator sandals are also not knee-high! The tends to deter people but trust me, you don't have to buy the knee-high ones! So if you're looking to turn heads, I'd definitely suggest gladiator sandals to you. But for those who want to fly under the radar, this may not be your style.
5. Lace-Up Sandals
Ever since I was made aware of this trend, I was looking for the right pair of lace-up sandals at the right price! At Christmas, I finally found a pair with a good heel height in the color I wanted. Much like gladiator sandals, lace up sandals make a statement. These, however, are more dressy than a t-strap or a gladiator. This is probably one of my favorite shoe trends that has arisen in the past few years.
6. Ankle-Strap Sandals
If you are looking for something classic and timeless, look no further than the ankle strap sandal! Ankle strap sandals can honestly make anyone's feet look great. They are often heels but not always high heels. I would recommend an ankle strap to someone who doesn't know much about shoes simply because they are easy to find and look good on almost everyone! Also, because they are a classic, they will never go out of style like some of these other types may.
