They say college is the best four years of your life. As the year comes to a close, freshmen realize this couldn't be true without the company of incredible friends. Nine months ago, we were excited to start fresh yet nervous to live away from home for the first time. Despite our apprehensions, special people along the way have eased our worries and made our time memorable. To these seven types of friends, thank you!

1. Your friends from home

Without these guys, you wouldn’t be where you are. They have relentlessly supported you in your college transition, even from hundreds of miles away. You live vicariously through one another’s Snapchats and keep each other updated through FaceTime.

2. Your day one

You met them on move-in day, orientation or the first day of class and they’ve been there for you ever since. From awkwardly learning how to navigate campus to experiencing the pain of finals week and the joy of many college firsts together, this friend has been your sidekick, partner in crime and person. You couldn’t have done freshman year without them.

3. Your adventuring buddy

Whether it be playing guitar at 2 a.m., exploring the city or going on spontaneous road trips, this friend is always down to have a good time and do something out of the ordinary. Without them, college would be a mundane cycle of textbooks and the same old weekend activities.

4. Your backbone

This friend is strapped in right next to you on the rollercoaster of college. When you are stressed, they give you cookies and motivation. When the stress is over, they celebrate with you by doing your favorite things. Through tears and smiles, you know they’ll be there to share it all.

5. Your constant laughter

This is the friend that you can't go to the silent section of the library with because you know they'll make you laugh too loud. They brighten every situation with their terrible singing voice, unfunny puns, and airhead comments. They have the talent of making any dull moment fun.

6. Your "just do it" pal

As small fish in a big bowl, it can be hard to start getting involved. Having a friend with similar interests makes it much easier. Whether it's going to campus talks or volunteering off-campus together, this person helped you break out of your shell by telling you to just do it. Now you have a million memories of doing things you're passionate about together!

7. Your role model

Whether it's a fellow club member, your teammate or your Big, this friend inspires you to do great things. They are experienced and accomplished. They show you the ropes to academics and encourage you to tackle new opportunities. Though they may be older and wiser, they are nonetheless one of your best friends.

To my seven types of friends -- thank you for being different, being you and being mine. Until next year!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
