Growing up there were many things that caught my attention, like any kid I dabbled in different sports, had fun at school when we had music or art (art on Tuesdays, music on Thursdays, best two days of the week). But, what had quite a grip on me, and what brings back the most memories are the TV shows that I watched.
Luckily the early 2000s was littered with fantastic TV shows, filled with great dynamic characters, that were funny and made you laugh, went on exciting adventures, but also were completely relatable! Even there most ridiculous shows just had something about them, you could always find yourself there, as either the main character or one of their awesome sidekicks. So sit back, and come take a trip down memory line with me as I count down the 10 shows that I remember the best from my childhood and make me smile, and hopefully some that you will make you smile too.
10. Lizzie McGuire
Growing up, Lizzie McGuire was a show I looked to tell me what to expect as I grow. Whatever it was puberty (ew)!, boys, high school, arguments with friends, the Lizzie McGuire show had an episode for it.
9. The Proud Family
This show had the best theme song, don't tell me you aren't singing it in your head right at this moment, it also dealt with a family issues like no other. When Penny and her family went through something, I went through it with them, and though it was animated it brought issues from the real world to kids in a way they could understand. A really fantastic show with writers who deserve a million hand claps!
8. Phil of the Future
7. Evens Stevens
If you had siblings, you knew this show was not exaggerating when it came to some of the crazy antics that Louis and Ren Stevens got up to. And whether you were Louis, the crazy one, Ren, the academic one, or Donnie, the athletic sibling, you always had your other siblings back, no matter what.
6. The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
The show that made every kid want to live in a hotel, and caused laughs every other line, was The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Going against the stereotypical and delving into issues such as having to choose between a mom and dad this show had so many layers to it, and it is really only now when you watch an epos that you can see this.
5. Kim Possible
Cheerleader, and international hero, and all before she graduated high school. But, she still was''t the best, and we watched Kim as she went through life learning that. She had to rely on friends, family, even a few enemies to get through each of the trials thrown her way and we loved watching her make it through, and defeat the bad guy! (Another super catchy theme song!)
4. The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
Being different was tough for Jimmy Neutron. He was a super smart kid, I mean he created his own robot dog, amongst other crazy things! But, what I learned from Jimmy and his friends, was that it was ok to be who you were meant to be; whether it was an obsession with Llamas, a love for Ultra Lord action figure, or just being crazy smart, when it came to those you were meant to be friends with, you just had to be yourself.
3. Avatar: The Last Airbender
A show that had strong female characters, Avatar: The Last Airbender. A show that dealt with politics and nuances between right and wrong, Avatar: The Last Airbender. A show that dealt with loss, a show that dealt with love, a show that brought laughs and tears, and had some awesome fighting sequences thrown in, that show was Avatar: The Last Airbender.
2. That's So Raven
Raven, Eddie, and Chelsea. Three friends who had some up and downs, who laughed together, who cried together, who lived life together. This show dealt with so many issues, I still remember the episode that is gif is from, about how all of our bodies are different and they are all beautiful a relevant issue at any time in history. That episode came to me when I needed it most, and it taught me a lesson that I still need today.
I still cry every time I see the last episode of this fantastic tv show. The rocking theme song, the adorable Eric, the epic bromance of Shawn and Cory, the love story that made all of us want to have a relationship like Cory and Toping and the wisdom given by Mr. Feeny.
This show was like no other, and it made up such a huge chunk of my life, it made me laugh, it made me cry, it made think about so man, how thankful I was for my family, how some friends are friends for life and others well you might have to let them go. So much love is stored in my heart from this show and all the shows that I grew up with and I'll be forever grateful for the lessons that they helped to teach me.
