A Glimpse into the Past:
Truth Be Told
The blood trickling down the winding path of skin,
A kiss so bitter it tastes like iron.
The regret of the blade always lacking,
While the freedom of the blood pours itself outward.
Past the chaos of the skin,
Gravity takes hold and shoves it downward.
It disperses into the warm water and stains it red.
One drop, then two, then too many.
So many that it cannot be controlled.
Freedom isn’t free, especially to the one who broke the seal.
But freedom is what she’s always been looking for.
***
She earned the stripes she gave herself,
For years they reminded her of where she'd been.
When it felt as though she could no longer feel,
The blood proved she was still alive.
Dead people can't bleed.
One day the reason for the torment became the reason to stop.
She chose life.
Pause, but continue.

"A semicolon is used when an author could’ve ended a sentence but chose not to.
You are the author and the sentence is your life."
