Donald Trump is nothing if not the center of controversy in this year's election. In a new poll released by Monmouth College, almost half of young adults said they have an unfavorable opinion of Trump, while 17 percent said they favored him over other candidates. What makes young adults see Trump as an unsavory candidate? It seems a couple of things stand out.
His proposal to ban all Muslims.
46.4 percent of young adults in the poll said they would outright oppose the plan, and 49.4 percent said the proposal makes them see Trump unfavorable light. Trump's plan to halt all Muslims coming into the country breaks many different pieces of the Constitution, including the separation of church and state. Trump has no previous experience with diplomacy, and it shows in many of his proposals.
Being backed by the former leader of the KKK, and not being fazed by it.
Millennials today are the most socially conscious of any young adults in history. If Donald Trump's being backed by former Grand Wizard David Duke seemed unfavorable, it would be less unsavory if Donald Trump had publicly rejected the former leader of the white supremacist group. Instead, he hedged that he didn't know enough to disavow Duke's support of his candidacy.

Many world leaders have come out against Donald Trump, including the Pope, British Parliament, and the ex-President of Mexico. In a time when many millennials are worried about the state of America's safety, Trump's disregard of many of America's allies could spell disaster in America's interests and safety concerns abroad.
This election is one of the most important in history, and many of the candidates stand out as being unrealistic or controversial. As the election continues, the Republican Party must make a tough decision as Trump continues to do well in the primaries. Trump runs on the platform that political correctness needs to end, but many of his comments seem to push the envelope on what sort of prejudices could be held by the president. Millennials are often touted as the most impressionistic and malleable voters, but it seems many do not want to see Trump in the Oval Office.
