Why We Can't Be Friends If You Support Donald Trump

You are voting for Trump and we just cannot be friends any longer.

Why We Can't Be Friends If You Support Donald Trump

I am not one to ever let religious views or political ideology get in the way of any of my friendships or relationships. I believe a friendship is more important than our differences in how we view certain issues in the world. A person is way more than their political ideology or what higher power they happen to believe in. At this point in life, we are mature enough to not let little things get in the way of the more important, bigger picture.

With that being said, we can no longer be friends if you support Donald Trump or vote for him. Yes, this is personal. You supporting Trump in any way just shows a lot about your character and what kind of person you really are. Most importantly, it shows that you probably have a problem with some part of me. I am a Mexican. I am a woman. I am gay. That's 3 strikes in the book of Trump. It is no secret that Trump is a racist, sexist, xenophobe, and overall just a bigot.

Trump believes that the majority of Mexicans are rapists, killers, and are stealing the jobs of Americans. Not one of his claims are true. The majority of people committing sexual assaults in America are, you guessed it, white people. You are far more likely to be sexually assaulted by a white person than any Mexican. According to the University of Massachusetts,"Foreign-born individuals exhibit remarkably low levels of involvement in crime across their life course." It's clearly not Mexicans committing the majority of violent related crimes in America. Also, Mexicans are not stealing jobs from Americans. The sad truth is, Americans are very lazy. Mexican immigrants work the jobs that Americans simply don't want to work. My people do all of America's dirtiest jobs. My people are hardworking, manual laborers. They have earned these jobs and they deserve these jobs. Think about it. Illegal immigrants come from Mexico not speaking a lick of English and can still get a job and do their best to make a living for their families. There is no other excuse, America. You're just lazy.

"There’s no such thing as racism anymore. We’ve had a black president so it’s not a question anymore. Are they saying black lives should matter more than white lives or Asian lives? If black lives matter, then go back to Africa? We’ll see how much they matter there.” If black lives matter, then go back to Africa? We’ll see how much they matter there.”

That is the response from Donald Trump when he was asked about the "Black Lives Matter" protests and the issue of racially-motivated violence in South Carolina after the Dylan Roof incident. He believes that a white man shooting up a predominantly black church and killing black church members had nothing to do with racism. Looking into this boy's life, you know that this act had everything to do with racism. Trump did not oppose South Carolina keeping their confederate flags on their state building after this incident. He also doesn't believe that there is a presence of police brutality against African Americans. Until recently, he would not condemn his white supremacist campaigners. He claimed that he had no clue who David Duke (former KKK leader) was nor what the KKK was and that was why he could not condemn a group he apparently knows nothing about. Him not knowing anything about the KKK is incredibly ironic considering white supremacist groups and neo-Nazi groups have been reported at many of his rallies throughout his campaign trail.

The Trumpster is also incredibly and disgustingly sexist. He has a fetish for his own daughter. He has consistently told America that his relationship with Ivanka might be different if he were not her father. That's only his first offense here. He's also quoted a tweet that stated, "If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?" Hillary is now supposed to be deemed as an unfit president simply because her husband couldn't control himself? That has nothing to do with her presidential capabilities. While referring to her race against Obama in the 2008 presidential election he stated that, "she got schlonged, she lost." Come on, we all know what the word "schlong" refers to and it's not the word "defeat." He has also claimed that women being raped in the military is of course inevitable when putting men and women together. Really? Is rape really inevitable when men and women are put together? There are tons more sexist remarks that he makes on a daily basis but no one has the time to list every single ignorant thing he has said. He belittles and degrades women just because of the fact that we are women. He is a prime example of the misogynistic patriarchy.

Trump firmly believes that Christianity is the law of the land and he loves to discriminate against Muslims. Muslims have just as much of a right to be in America as Trump does. Trump calling for a ban on Muslims entering America is outrageous. Trump calling for all Muslims living in the U.S. to be registered in a database is even more outrageous. He wants Muslim citizens to carry around identification cards that note their faith. I'm not saying that there is any correlation between Trump and Hitler but these ideas do sound a lot like the ideas of Hitler, don't they?

All in all, I hope you can understand why we can no longer be friends if you are a Trump supporter. If this does not provide enough reasons to be anti-Trump then a basic Google search on him should do the trick. There is nothing good about Trump and he will be extremely detrimental to America and its citizens if elected as president. He is leading in the polls and we have to stop this. My fellow millennials, we have to go out and vote. Voting is so important. Please remember, anyone but Trump.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
