Think twice about it.

The True Meaning Behind Black Lives Matter
Positive Assertiveness Inc.

Being pro-black, is not being anti-white or anti-police as well. Nor is it dismissing the lives of other ethnic majorities and minorities as unimportant or meaningless. At present, I am failing to comprehend why the fact that Black people have decided to stand together in a unified faction, makes other people feel threatened. We're not planning to enslave a mass amount of people due to simply the pigment of their skin for more than 400 years, force you into segregation laws or crowding you into low-class apartments full of drugs and crime like a science experiment. Nor are we encouraging violence and spreading ignorance like a disease. The majority of the supporters of Black Lives Matter just want to stand together due to one almost fatal biological makeup that seems to make us all so much more different than everyone else.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe black people are notorious for setting a double standard. However, that's just human nature. For instance, anyone would criticize someone who robbed a bank for their family's sake but if it were you, you would somehow justify your actions as chivalrous because who really wants to be seen as the bad guy?

Personally, I am truly thankful for every police officer who protects me and everyone else in my community from the crime that exists in the world today. But sadly, racism against black people still exists today. There are people in this world who can't think of good reason to hate black people but do it anyway. It's handed down from father to son, mother to daughter and so forth. Unfortunately, some of these people are the very ones who are supposed protect us all. The Black Lives Matter movement, to me, is not implying that every police officer is racist or is quick to kill every black person they encounter. The media is quick to imply it instead, simply to cause public attention and to create constant headlines. They do it easily by rearranging and leaving out very important facts. And we as people, let them. It is our responsibility to be COMPLETELY informed in order to make my own opinion and do our own research because not every instance of a cop killing a black person, is necessarily a race issue. I encourage everyone reading this to be cautious of forming an opinion about a race issue before informing themselves on their own time. Sometimes, the media uses Black Lives Matter unfairly as a sort of scapegoat. When in reality, the supporters simply want to highlight the black community as a whole and bring awareness to and prevent any malice occurring in it

I won't elaborately comment on the recent ongoings in Dallas or in Baton Rouge but I will say that the losses on both sides are equally devastating and everyone should be rallying together in silent protest. Violence solves nothing. There's nothing wrong with Black people wanting to stand together at this time because by doing so, we're not excluding or dismissing anyone despite what the media wants you to believe. The police aren't the problem but police brutality is and the movement is not trying to stereotype the police force as a whole.

At the end of the day, unless you're black yourself, you'll honestly never truly know what it's like. You'll never know how it feels to have a teacher or superior undermine or disrespect your full potential, being someone who simply wants to try at something, just because you're black. You won't know how it feels to get faces or sideways glances of silent annoyance or disgust when you walk in a store or are in a restaurant that a stereotypical black person would never be seen in. You won't know how much it hurts being rejected by someone or by a company because of the color of your skin. You will never experience the pale faces of obvious surprise when you tell them how successful you are. But most of all, you'll never know how hard it is to watch the news and see yet another one of your own dying on a sidewalk and no one can tell you why.

So, think twice about what I have said before you say All Lives Matter, Blue Lives Matter, etc, etc because no true supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement will say they don't.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
