Now that I'm (almost) finished with my second year here at Marquette, I know the struggle that is being a Wisconsinite surrounded by more Illinoisians than I could ever possibly count. Here are some ways that you too, might be from the great state of Wisconsin:
1. You automatically befriend anyone wearing Packers gear.
Does Jay Cutler have a signature touchdown dance? Didn't think so.
2. You call this by its true name: a bubbler.
What is this "drinking fountain" you speak of?
3. You're a loyal Brewers fan, despite their terrible record.
We might win significantly less than the Cubs, but you have not lived until you've tailgated at Miller Park.
4. Summerfest will always have a special place in your heart.
Where else could you see 95 percent of all the people you've ever known, all in one place?
5. You didn't understand the hype surrounding Portillo's until one of your friends from Illinois made you try it.
Okay, I must admit, the food truly is incredible.
6. You have strong opinions on cheese curds.
Team fried cheese curds all the way.
7. Tolls are the bane of your existence.
We call it the "freeway" for a reason, people!
8. High school football rivalries still exist, even in college.
Homestead vs. Arrowhead, anyone?
9. The vast majority of your graduating class went to a UW system school, but you know Marquette was a perfect choice.
Few things were more satisfying than the victory over Madison.
10. You know Wisconsin's 4 seasons by heart: almost winter, winter, just after winter, and construction.
Where else could you have snow one weekend, and go to the lake the next?
There you have it--just a few ways to spot a true Wisconsinite amongst their peers from the suburbs of Chicago.
