Give me one true friend over 30 acquaintances I consider "friends."
It is so easy to compare yourself to others, "She has so many friends," "Every one likes her," "She's always with a group of no less than four" and thats on a bad day. We all know people like this. The honest truth though, all 20 of those "close friends" can't compare to one truly genuine friend. Out of all of those friends though, how many would stay up until you fall asleep and sneak in your apartment to decorate it for your birthday because its your first one away from home? Sure some would but not everyone is willing to go the extra mile, a true friend always does.
The term quantity over quality has never been more true. It is nice to know a bunch of people and have people to shop, eat lunch with, and go out with. At the end of the day which one do you know is going to fly to you because you just saw an Instagram post of your ex and his new girlfriend and you're a wreck? A true friend could careless about the size of the situation but instead concerned about you and your happiness.
A friend is someone you can count on, trust, cry with, laugh with, and share memories with the rest of your life. People like these are few and far between, they come around just a few times in your life and you have to catch them while they are there. Never take the friendship of a true friend for granted. While you may be envying the girl who is "friends" with everyone while you have two people you know will always be there for you, you are the lucky one. You are the one that caught that rare friend who is genuine and is a greater friend than five girls put together.
Your Instagram may not be a variety of thirty different girls in the past two months instead that one consistent friend. That is okay. Give me one true friend over a posse of social friends.
Please don't mistake this as me telling you your best friend limit is two people and after that no one cares. That is not true but finding a true friend is a job in itself much less acquiring multiples. Count your blessings each time you gain a precious soul in your life.
