My Trip to Everest Base Camp in June

If you are planning on booking Everest Base Camp trek in June or any similar monsoon months then this post can be great help while planning your trip. I have recently did the trek from 13th to 25th June and here I am going to share itinerary and further details about the trip.

Trekking to Everest Base Camp is an amazing adventure that takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayan region in Nepal. Nestled in the lap of the world's tallest peaks, including Mount Everest itself, this journey is a dream come true for trekking enthusiasts and adventure seekers. While the experience can be both challenging and rewarding throughout the year, going on this trek in June offers a unique blend of favorable weather conditions and pristine natural beauty. In this article, I delve into what it's like to embark on a trek to Everest Base Camp during the month of June.

Weather and Temperatures

June marks the beginning of summer in Nepal and in the Everest region and while it is considered the monsoon season, it offers relatively stable weather conditions compared to later months like July and August. Daytime temperatures in June range from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius (50 to 59 degrees Fahrenheit) at lower altitudes, making it comfortably warm for trekking. However, temperatures decrease as you ascend above 3000 meters with nighttime temperatures dropping below freezing at higher altitudes. At places like Lobuche and Gorakshep it went to minus 12 Degrees Celsius at night. It is really important to pack verities of clothing layers to adapt to the changing temperatures and ensure comfort throughout the trek. Along with regular hiking gears don’t forget to bring rain gears and sleeping bag.

Greenery and blooming wild Rhododendrons

One of the highlights of trekking to Everest Base Camp in June is witnessing the region's lush greenery and vibrant landscapes. The monsoon showers rejuvenate the flora on the trail resulting in a picturesque tapestry of colorful wildflowers and cascading waterfalls along the trail. The hillsides are decorated with blooming rhododendrons, popular and Nepal's national flower, adding a touch of vibrancy to the incredible journey. The contrast between the emerald forests and the snow-capped peaks creates a surreal ambiance that captivates trekkers on each and every step of the way.

Less People and Peaceful Environment

While main trekking season in the Everest area is considered during spring and autumn, June witness relatively fewer crowds allowing us to relish the tranquility of the trail. The absence of large groups means quieter teahouses and fewer trekkers on the paths, providing a sense of solitude and ample opportunities to immerse yourself in the stunning Himalayan surroundings. This quieter atmosphere allows for a more personal connection with the mountains and a deeper appreciation for the remarkable wilderness that envelopes you.

Challenges and Precautions

Although trekking to Everest Base Camp in June presents unique advantages, it's essential to be aware of the potential challenges. The monsoon season can sometime bring rainfall and there may be occasional showers during lower altitude on the trek, so waterproof gear is really essential. Trails can become slippery especially during rainy days requiring you to be cautious while walking. Additionally, cloud cover may obstruct views of the majestic peaks at some days. Ensuring you have appropriate trekking gear, including sturdy footwear and waterproof clothing, will enhance your safety and comfort during the journey.

Luckily I experience really great views along the way and monsoon started only around 3rd week of June, which didn’t affect me at all as I was descending after completing my journey.

Summary

Going on Everest Base Camp Trek in June offers a charming experience, peaceful trekking experience allowing you to witness the region's natural splendor in this unique vibrant season. From the lush greenery to the blooming rhododendrons the landscapes come alive with lively colors, creating a scenic paradise. With fewer trekkers along the trail, you can savor the serenity of the trail, forging a deeper connection with the magnificent Everest. Although I experienced a great weather on my recent trip, it is crucial to prepare for the harsh weather conditions and potential challenges that can come with the monsoon season. With proper planning and preparation I am sure you will get unforgettable experience while trekking to Everest Base Camp in June. Happy Trekking!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
