Fashion is so much fun because a trend that was popular a decade ago can easily come back in style today. Sometimes I look at old clothes I have and wonder why I bought them, but there’s a big chance that that specific piece of clothing could come back in style later on. There are a few items that, specifically, are making their way back in style, and I’m pretty excited about it. Here they are, with some positives and negatives to go along with each.
1. Chokers
For us 90s kids, chokers were in style for a part of our childhood. They eventually disappeared, but now they may be coming back. Chokers seem to give off a mysterious, grunge look and make a statement with any outfit. The black 90s choker is the most popular and can be paired with so many different outfits. I’m excited to see these necklaces make a full comeback.
2. Halter tops
I don’t know what it is about halter tops that I love, but they are definitely making a comeback. I have specifically looked up “halter tops” on clothing websites when looking for a new shirt to buy this summer because of how much I like them. These tops are flattering - they show off your arms and your back. They have a casual, yet fun, look to them and look amazing with jeans and wedges for a night out. These are a definite must!
3. Flare jeans
For a while now, skinny jeans have been the jean of choice. However, I’ve been finding myself grabbing my only pair of flare jeans and wearing them instead of my skinny jeans this summer. They remind me of the 70s and look cute with flip-flops. My only concern is what kind of shoes to wear with them in the fall and winter, besides Sperrys. We’ll see if these make a full comeback or not in the fall. My prediction is that boots and skinnies will still prevail.
4. Crop tops
These small pieces of fabric have made their way back into the fashion world. They look adorable paired with high wasted shorts. The crop top shows a bit more skin than normal, but they come in all sorts of designs and styles. However, these shirts are being mis-worn by young girls all over. Wearing these shirts with regular jeans, skirts or shorts is a definite no. Seeing your entire belly isn’t in style and probably won’t ever be!
5. Scrunchies
I personally haven’t bought a scrunchy yet, but I have seen girls wearing them and I think they are adorable! The boring hair bands we are used to have nothing on these thick accessories. They bring a little bit of 80s flare to your workout outfit. I have yet to see these pulled off with a non-workout outfit, but I feel like they could somehow be incorporated. They’re fun and cute, so that’s all that matters!
6. Rompers/jumpsuits
These made a huge comeback extremely fast. Something about wearing shorts connected to a top is fun and interesting - more fun than a dress. These pieces of clothing scream casual, yet cute. Rompers can be found in multiple colors, prints and styles. They have been a must for the summer; I’m not sure if we’ll see them around as much in the winter. Also, using the restroom wearing one of these is a total pain.
