The new year is upon us, so it's time to be a little nostalgic. No, I don't mean reflecting on 2015's failed resolutions, I'm talking about major throwbacks. Trends from the 80's, 90's, and 00's are considered to be some of the most iconic years for fashion, and I definitely do not disagree. Although I wouldn't mind leaving some of the fads, like wearing neck-ties as belts, in the past where they belong.
My mom always told me that one day I'd be begging to wear her old clothes, and as per usual, she wasn't wrong. From sky-high platform shoes to choker necklaces, berry lips to iridescent eyeshadow, and parachute pants to off-the-shoulder tops, we've truly seen some of the craziest fashion comebacks. With 2016 just around the corner, I'm going to place a few bets on what might be considered the next "new" thing.
1. Crazy hair accessories.
2. Peasant tops.
3. Juicy Couture velour tracksuits.
4. Grown-out roots.
This is pretty much an ombre, right?
5. Pants with words on the back.
6. Shrugs.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
7. Crimped hair.
8. Trucker hats.
Y'all can thank Ashton Kutcher for inspiring this trend.
9. Charm bracelets.
10. Hair wraps.
11. Band tees.
Obviously, I'm talking about the ones from Hot Topic or Vans Warped Tour.
12. Abercrombie and Hollister everything.
13. Small purses with lots of color.
14. Layered tanktops.
15. Side bangs.
You're lying if you didn't want bangs like Ashlee Simpson.
16. Paul frank graphic tees.
17. Lacoste polo shirts.
18. Ugg boots and shorts.
19. Short-shorts with the pockets hanging out.
Let's make note of the plastic bracelet that's probably from Claire's.
20. Halter tops
OK, so 90% of these trends are a little far-fetched, but if the choker necklace can make a comeback, anything can. If you see any of these fads begin to resurface once the new year begins, don't say I didn't tell you so!
