Although many expected the new year to ring in tons of #NewYearNewMe posts, a new hashtag has risen. The #WasteHisTime2016 movement was started on Twitter, and has since made its way to other social media outlets like Instagram and Tumblr. Young women have taken upon themselves to show a message to the men out there: We're not to be messed with in 2016.
As someone who has gotten hurt from the games played by men, I can relate to the frustration of these women. The range of the #WasteHisTime2016 posts are not only hilarious, but impressive. There are some that I admit to be guilty of doing:
There are some that I find clever, and make me wish I would have thought of it myself.

And there are some that I've only thought of when I was at my worst times of feeling petty.
Whether you're a girl who finds these funny and can relate to, or a guy who finds them insulting, it is apparent that our generation has commitment issues. I can't say that I don't support this trending hashtag, because since the #NetflixandChill movement, I've been waiting for the ladies to have a comeback. However, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, and this is only making the battle of the sexes worse. Instead of wasting each other's times, shouldn't we be focusing on bettering each other?
If there's anything more to be taken from #WasteHisTime2016, I hope it is the motivation to live a life without wasting anyone else's time, and without wasting your own life on anyone or anything else. We're barely two weeks into the near year. There's still time to ditch the games and petty behavior in 2015. Nothing is sexier than a mature and level-headed person.
