Oh, The Places You'll Go!

I have a passion to travel. After graduation, I would love to go to more places and experience new cultures, make new friends and branch out of my comfort zone. I am from a city, San Francisco and it is sometimes nice to get out of the hustle and bustle of being in a city, whether it be a short road trip up north or a beach getaway to southern California, traveling is always fun. My Dad could drive for hours, so on the weekends, I and my family often take road trips.

In my sophomore year of college, I was given the opportunity to fly down under to Australia and New Zealand. My younger brother plays rugby and his high school team was going on a tour. I was able to go on this trip with my family which was even more special to me because I was able to have an amazing time with them as well as explore a new country and make lifelong memories.

I am so thankful that I have had the opportunity to travel to such beautiful places. This summer, I went abroad to Italy and it is an experience I will never forget, the friends I made, the cities I visited and the food I tasted, I will always want to go back to Italy and hope to one day have the chance.

My Mom is from Ireland and I was able to also visit my family for a weekend this summer. I have been to Ireland before, so going back to Ireland was almost like being home, especially with my family there. I was very familiar with the streets of Dublin when I visited, which helped when I was showing my friend around the city. She immediately fell in love. She had never been to another country before we left the states and she loved Italy, but her favorite place to travel then became Ireland because of the welcoming and kind atmosphere.

I would like to travel as much as I can, places I would love to visit in the near future are Prague, Budapest, and Vienna. I have a list of dream places to visit and I think that Vienna, Budapest, and Prague are beautiful and are a must see. A friend of mine before coming to Italy visited Stockholm and recommended I go and visit. The ABBA museum is in Stockholm and as a huge fan of ABBA, I feel that Stockholm is another city I must go and see. I think that seeing all of ABBA's disco stage costumes would be a cool experience. Speaking of ABBA, the movie Mamma Mia has inspired me to want to go to Greece. Mykonos looks like a beautiful place full of history. I am a fan of traveling to places with a lot of history. It is always cool to go and see the places you have been learning about in school since you were a kid. My favorite part about visiting Rome was going to the Colosseum because of all of the rich history.

You never know what the future holds, but I do know that in my future,I will try my best to see the world and travel as much as I can.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
