10 Things That I Hope I Never Have To Do Again

A short list of some of the most traumatizing situations I have found myself in.

Don't get me wrong. I've had a really good life, and not too many awfully bad things have happened to me. But there are a few notable, standout instances that have left me scarred and hoping that I never have to experience again.

1. Pull an all-nighter

This one is just rough. For instance, if you're up all night to cram for a test, the results are rarely even good on said test anyways, ultimately making the whole experience not even worth it. What is also torturous is trying to fall asleep, but not being able to turn your brain off. This results in a restless tossing and turning all night, followed up by a miserable, zombie-like trance state-of-mind all the next day.

2. Be told to "get on the line” and run again

This phrase still to this day haunts me. Even though I haven't heard this in about three years, it can still make my stomach turn nervous knots. It comes from my days as a soccer player of course, and I'll never forget that last practice as a senior in high school, and knowing I would (hopefully) never have to hear those words again. There are SO many things I miss about soccer, but this phrase is definitely not one of them.

3. Get broken up with

I think that is enough said on this one.

4. Spend the night in an airport

They are freezing, gross from millions of people's germs, bright and well-lit making it impossible to fall asleep, and just overall not the place you want to rest your head after a long day of traveling and flight delays.

5. Get poison ivy

This has to be from the devil himself. It is the worst, most annoying position to be in, and impossible to escape. I don't even wish this predicament on my worst enemies.

6. Make a 10-hour drive on a charter bus

I loved my soccer team. But when we're all smelly and exhausted from a long game, the last thing you want to do is ride on a cramped, stinky bus with 16 other girls who are just as fed up with you over not being comfortable enough to fall asleep.

7. Lose an Alabama football game

I know this is really obnoxious. But being a Bama fan has its pressures, and it's no secret everyone would love to see us lose. I just never ever want that day to come. I like for my team to win, and I just don't handle smack talk from others well.

8. Sleep in the middle of summer with no air conditioning

I'm already hot natured and have to have not one, not two, but THREE fans blowing for me to get good sleep at night. So my restlessness was taken to a whole new level when I slept in almost 100-degree weather with no air conditioning or fan.

9. Not see my mom for over two months

She's my best friend and I literally almost had a nervous break down when I was so busy with school and other things that I didn't get to see her for awhile. People, hug your moms every chance you get. there's no one like them!

10. Get another speeding ticket

Cops hate me. Just kidding, I just speed too much. I pray I never get another speeding ticket again for multiple reasons: (1). My parents actually might disown me and take my car away, (2). My wallet simply cannot afford to pay them off anymore, and (3). Pretty sure if I get one more my license might legally be taken away. Ultimately, I really should just slow down, I know.

These are just a few of my silly examples of things I hope never happen again. But in all honesty, I am aware that all of these things really are not that bad. In reality, I am very blessed. There are others in the world who endure much harder, worse conditions and situations than any of the small examples I have listed above. Whenever something you dread is happening, try your best to put your situation in perspective and remember you could always be helping someone else who may have something harder going on in their life. You never know what someone else's battle might be!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
