The City of Philadelphia is one of the oldest and largest cities in the country. With that being said, the city of brotherly love has plenty of opportunities to get your Halloween fix. Whether it is haunted houses, hayrides, movies, or family fun, Philly has tons of activities to keep you busy around Halloween time!
1. Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary
Available through November 7th (select dates).
Once a huge prison, the now abandoned Eastern State Penitentiary is now home to one of the most famous attractions in Philadelphia, Terror Behind the Walls. It is rated one of the top haunted houses in the country, with over 200 professional performers and Hollywood-quality sets, it is quite the terrifying experience. For their 25th anniversary, they created two new attractions -- Quarantine: 4D and Break Out, join the other four returning attractions.
2. Pennhurst Asylum
Available through November 1 (select nights).
This deserted asylum is believed to be haunted, giving it that much more of a scary experience. You can crawl through the Tunnel terror, stroll through the Dungeon of the Lost Souls, and explore the newly updated hospital-themed asylum.
3. Halloween at Franklin Square
Available on weekends until October 31.
A family-friendly Franklin Square has Spooky Mini Golf, music, fog, lights, pumpkin patches, and rides! It is perfect for the family looking to spend some quality time in a great location!
4. True Tales From The Tombs: Mischief Night By Firelight (at Laurel Hill Cemetery)
Bring a flashlight and expect to hear the most bone-shivering, eerie tales of the most memorable and scariest "residents" of Laurel Hill Cemetery. Hot cider and cookies follow!
5. The Bates Motel
Available through November 1 (select dates).
The Bates Motel has been named one of America's scariest haunt by the Travel Channel. With tons of professional performers and hair-raising effects and pyrotechnics, haunted hayrides and corn mazes, it'll be sure to leave you horrified!
6. Ghost Tour of the Olympia
Available through November 1 (select dates).
If you have ever been to Penn's Landing, you can not help to notice the beautiful, historic battleship, USS Olympia. With a slight twist, explore the former war vessel and hear the haunted tales aboard. Discover the disgusting story of "Gunner" Johnson and you travel through a ghostly ship.
7. The Count's Halloween Spooktacular at Sesame Place
Available on weekends through November 1.
Celebrate the perfect combination of spooky and fun at Sesame Place! Come parade around the park in your best costumes, watch Halloween shows, mazes, and meet the famous characters of Sesame Street! There are three Count von Count attractions, and do not miss the Neighborhood Street Part Halloween parade!
8. Ghost Ship Terror Cruise
Patriot Harbor Lines presents the uncensored Ghost Ship Terror Cruise: Pirates & The Jersey Devil. The evening includes tales of Blackbeard, Captain Kidd, pirate ghouls, and the regions favorite fiend, the Jersey Devil.
9. Fright Factory
Available through October 31 (select nights).
Renovated for its 15th-anniversary and located inside a 100-year-old factory in South Philadelphia, Fright Factory offers even more frightening passages and dark corner, where high-tech horrors and made-up monsters wait to torment guests as they timidly walk throughout.
10. The Valley of Fear
Riding through the Haunted Hayride confronting monsters and other frightful creatures living in The Valley of Fear. Prepare for the zombie apocalypse in the Zombie Escape Maze, and if only brave enough, battle the undead. There was a new addition for the 2015 year: Into the Underworld, which is a haunted forest walk.
11. HorrorFest at Shadybrook Farm
Available through October 30 (select nights).
Shadybrook Farm's HorrorFest has some of the most fearsome attractions made only for the bravest of guests. They have the Barn of Horror, Hayride of Horror, Carnage, and the 3D Alien Invasion.
