I've been into cars since I was a baby. I was born to a father who revolved his life around his cars and was actually taking my moms 1967 Camaro to the exhaust shop when she was going into labor with me. I guess you could say I was basically forced into the life of cars but at the end of the day, I wouldn't change a thing. My dad used to keep me out in the garage with him and when my mom would be on her way home from work he would have to rush inside and give me a bath to get all the grease off of me. Now, my parents have (2) 67 Camaros, (2) 68 Camaros, (4) 69 Camaros, 62 Nova, and a 31 Chevy Coupe. So I think at the end of the day, car girls are the best way to go.
1. You get to enjoy the things that you both love, together.
First and foremost what better way to spend your time together than working on cars, being in the garage, going to car shows and going to the racetrack? Let's back up, what better way to spend your time than with your significant other doing all the things you both love. Having someone else that enjoys the same things that you do makes a world of a difference.
2. They actually understand what you're talking about.
You can tell her that you want to put a cam into your car and she will understand that when you say "lift" you don't mean going to the gym. She also understands when you say listen to that lope in a car. You can talk about the hellcat across the parking lot and she won't think that you're talking about a four-legged animal. Basically, she will understand your second language otherwise known as "car language."
3. She will buy you the car parts that you've been wanting forever.
Christmas and birthdays will no longer be filled with "basic" Christmas presents such as clothes, cologne, shoes, and things that you have no use for. We might do something creative like put a short-throw shifter into a crock-pot box and have you thinking that you got a crock-pot but really it's the part that you've wanted. So when you want the latest lowering springs, shift light, cam, or even something cosmetic just mention it to us and we will try to make it happen.
4. We will help you install those new parts.
Oh, you need a hand installing the new parts? We are the first to jump in and help. I'm the first to jump onto a creeper and roll under the car and see how I can help. We aren't scared to get dirty and don't mind a little grease under our nails. It also comes in handy that we usually have small hands so when you're trying to install things into small spots, we're the person to help. Besides, you might just get lucky and her dad might lend a hand on the install.
5. We don't mind lending a hand when you're cleaning your car.
Going to a car show no longer means that you have to clean your car up by yourself. We don't mind lending a hand. We won't nag you and tell you "can't you just run it through the car wash?" Trust me, we get it. You need help cleaning your wheels up? We're the first to grab a rag and to start spray waxing them.
6. We're more cautious than you when it comes to your car (and we get it when you park far out).
"That person is parked way too close to my car." We get it. We don't mind walking the extra distance to the restaurant or into the mall. We hate scratches, dents, and door dings just as much as you do. You no longer have to worry about telling us to "watch our doors" on things because we're already cautious enough.
7. We're always up for adventures to car events.
Oh, you want to go to LS Fest out of town? Sure, let's go! We don't mind traveling to events. We even understand having to get up early to make sure that we get a good spot at the car show. Any adventure car related we are 99% of the time going to be down for it. The other 1% is if it is a Honda event.
8. We understand that your lifestyle is different than any other guy out there.
We won't always get to do all of the "couple relationship things" and that is OK with us. We understand that when it comes down to deciding what to do for the weekend that it will normally be something car related. We've even mastered how to take naps in the car because no telling how late we will be out watching racing. It's a lifestyle that we wouldn't change.
At the end of the day, dating a car girl is the best way to go. If your someone that is focused around your car, why not find someone who enjoys the same things that you do? Besides, we understand when the living room is filled with car parts for your latest build. We get that your life is different and we enjoy being different. The only downside to dating a car girl is not being able to lie to her about how much the car parts cost. Sorry guys, we know that a set of Kooks headers are more than $200.
