Spring and summer are not only the beginning of the best weather throughout the entire year but also the beginning some of the best concerts/festivals to attend. Here is my personal list of great concerts you don't want to miss coming both near and far. Well let's start with the obvious...
1. Brad Paisley at Alpha Psi Rodeo: April 11
Everyone in the SEC world who is between the ages of 18-22 knows what Alpha Psi Rodeo is. In case you don't, it is an even where the Veternary Fraternity at Auburn throws a day party that surrounds an actual rodeo (yes, with bull riding) which then leads into a concert at night where Brad will be performing at Ingram Farm in Opelika, Alabama.
2. Coachella: April 10-12 & 17-18, Indio, CA
This musical festival takes place slightly farther away. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual two-weekend, three-day music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club located in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. The lineup this year includes favorites like Steely Dan, Alabama Shakes, Drake, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Jack White.
3. The Hangout: May 15-17, Gulf Shores, AL
This festival is closer than Cali but will be packed considering the venue is the beach, so good luck and wear sunscreen. The lineup includes favorites like the Foo Fighters, Sam Smith, Beck, and Zach Brown Band.
4. Fleetwood Mac: March 25, Atlanta, GA
Don't miss out on this concert in Philips Arena, besides the obvious fact that Fleetwood is legendary, but also because this is their last tour (so they say) and it could be your last time to ever see them perform live. Stevie, you're the real MVP.
5. Alt-J: April 4, Chastain Park Amphitheatre, Atlanta, GA
You may wonder where they got their name from? -- A triangle or delta sign, ∆, pronounced alt-j (after the keyboard shortcut which creates a triangle on a Mac). Who'd of thought? The “trip-folk" band as they distinguish themselves has quickly risen above the hype as a genuine bands to watch.
6. Lana Del Ray: June 16, Atlanta, GA
Need I say more? – See the goddess herself at Aarons Amphitheatre at Lakewood.
7. Dave Matthews Band: May 30, Atlanta, GA
Aarons Amphitheatre at Lakewood will be the place to be. Besides great music, this venue makes for a fun, casual night where you can buy a ticket and sit in a seat or buy a cheaper ticket last minute, bring a blanket and crash in the back lawn.
8. Chicago & Earth Wind and Fire: August 4, Atlanta, GA
What a better combo? This event will be held at Aarons Amphitheatre at Lakewood.
