Top 9 Reasons Why You Should Hate FSU

As told by a Cane.

If there is one thing that Miami and Gator fans can agree on, it's their hatred of the Seminoles. Every Cane or Gator (or really any Non-FSU student) is raised and bred to despise FSU -and for good reasons:

1. Tomahawk Chop

The first thing that needs to be addressed is Florida State's famous war chant. The Tomahawk Chop just seems to be a lame response to the Gator Chomp or the Miami U. I heard they did same motion in 1930’s Germany, except they turned their arm 90 degrees counterclockwise.

2. QB Jameis Winston

Besides the fact that he steals crab legs from Publix, or that he obnoxiously yells obscenities on campus dining hall tables, FSU's beloved Jameis Winston also conveniently gets away with sexual assault. In 2012, a former FSU female student carried an assault case against Winston, which was later ignored by the University.

Florida State agreed to pay $950,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by the former student, who stated that the University violated her Title IV rights by ignoring the case. FSU also let Winston walk by without criminal or academic charges- sounds like a safe environment to me.

3. Talla-NASTY

It's called Talla-"Nasty" for a reason. Ask any Non-Seminole and they'll tell you that the only thing that FSU has going for themselves is the state capital.

4. The mascot

Fans show up to games in decorative and sacred Native American ritual attire while cheering on the semi-racist Seminole mascot. In addition to the mascot's implicit racism, games also include Chief Osceola and Renegade run out onto the middle of the field, and stab the Florida State logo. Correct me if I'm wrong but one school symbol stabbing another doesn't seem like a positive, sportsmanlike game tradition.

5. "Garnet"

Is there a reason why we can't just call their color what it is, dark red?

6. Crime Rate

In an Outside the Lines report that surfaced in 2015, over 10 different schools (Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Texas A&M and Wisconsin) were investigated for involvement with campus and local police.

FSU had the highest number of collegiate football and men's basketball players named in criminal allegations from 2009 to 2014. Florida State had sixty-six players who were involved with police overall, while twenty were involved in sexual assault or harassment against women. In 70 percent of those incidents, the athletes never faced charges, had charges against them dropped or were not prosecuted.

I guess this is what they mean when they say "Tallahassee born and raised".

7. The Uniforms

Th new uniforms are some nice ugly Christmas-sweater jerseys. Please stop wearing them.

8. QB De'Andre Johnson and RB Dalvin Cook

After Winston's debut in 2012, FSU swore they had changed their rosters.

Remember FSU's three-star recruit, Quarter Back in 2015? He was dismissed after throwing fists and almost knocking out a female FSU student at a bar. Right after Johnson's case, FSU's Running Back Dalvin Cook was charged with punching another woman in the face multiple times outside yet another Talla-nasty bar.

I guess there's a personality requisite that all Seminole QBs have to meet.

9. Their team

Despite once having a talented team, after losing Jameis Winston, FSU has suffered tremendously. In addition to losing Winston, losing 29 players to the NFL draft over a three-year span didn't do the Noles any favors.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
