The Top 5 Times Comedians “Poked Fun” At FOX News

There's no denying that FOX News has always been a conservative network. By providing breaking news and commentary using a Republican lens, FOX has developed a considerable opposition from Democrats.

Left-leaning comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the Colbert Report, and 30 Rock have become notorious for their spoofs and jokes concerning FOX News. As we enter into the holiday season, humour can be the best form of medicine when one is frustrated with family gatherings or …the American news media!

1. Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live’s sketch mocking the FOX show, “FOX and Friends” has always been a hilarious representation of the network because of SNL's extreme portrayal of the three co-anchors Steve Doocy, played by Taran Killam, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, played by Vanessa Bayer, and Brian Kilmeade, played by Bobby Moynihan.

2. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

During his 16-year run of hosting the extremely successful Daily Show, Jon Stewart always mocked FOX news, usually devoting a considerable amount of time in each of his episodes to joke about a new FOX news mishap. Through intense fact checking and analysis, his commentary always proved extremely entertaining.

3. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

In this clip, the intelligently funny John Oliver slams FOX news’ coverage of the Syrian Refugee Crisis. In September, FOX news claimed to have “new” footage of Syrian Refugees overloading a subway car in France when in reality John Oliver’s research team was able to discover the clip was from 2010 before the crisis began. (Watch from, 1:52-3:35).

4. The Colbert Report

Before he was a big time late night talk show host, the Colbert Report followed Jon Stewart’s lead and poked fun at the news. Using satire, Colbert shed a new light on comedy’s capabilities to make fun of the news.

5. 30 Rock

30 Rock, the show within a show mirroring Saturday Night Live, also went out of its way to mock the network. With just one line, actress Jane Krakowski perfectly spoofs the channel in the same way SNL does. “Welcome to FOX News… I’m blonde. President Obama in your own words, why are you a terrorist who hates America?”

Although these comedians in all five of these shows take intensely liberal sides when joking about FOX news, by expressing their views through humour, we see the value comedy plays in our media culture.

Someone has to ridicule those that ridicule for a living right?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
