"Can I call you?"

5 Text Messages That We've All Received And HATE Having To Open

I actually really love texting, and I prefer texting over phone calls any day, but there are certain text messages that I just can't with anymore. Of course, I have been found guilty of all of these, which is why I restrain myself from sending these five text messages. We've probably all have been the senders and receivers of these text messages.

"Lol"

Giphy

We're all guilty of this, but "lol" is EXTREMELY overused. There's a 99.999% chance that the person who sent you the message isn't laughing and is just sitting there with the most indifferent face ever. If the message only contains an 'lol", you already know the conversation is over.

“Okay”

Giphy

The only people who should be saying "okay" to me should be my parents. There's something about sending an okay that makes me a little frustrated. Besides it being a conversation killer, it just sounds bland and uninteresting over text. I would rather you send me a random emoji or sticker or react to my message as opposed to ending our conversation with an okay.

“Can I call you?”

Giphy

When people ask if they can call me, I have to brace myself. The conversations end up being hours long, and I never know how to respond especially when it comes to issues involving other people who I don't know. I want to be there for my friends but half of the time, I just don't know how to help them.

“I just woke up”

Giphy

When I'm just about to step foot out the door, I get this message, and I just step back in. I understand that you can be 5-10 minutes late, but waking up a half hour we're supposed to meet up for something that we've planned weeks prior is just not it.

“Good morning”

Giphy

This one is debatable and is dependent on the person who sends it. Otherwise, I feel as if good morning texts are artificial and used as a conversation starter, but they do not go further than that. I think Snapchat ruined good mornings for me because the good morning snaps were simply too redundant and there was nothing to be said after they were opened.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
