The Best Quotes From Republican Presidential Candidates

It's 7:45 P.M. I start the hike from my on-campus apartment to the library approximately 10 minutes away. It's almost time for the top 10 GOP Debate. If you're wondering why I'm going to the library to watch the debate, it's because I'm not fortunate enough to have cable in my apartment. Which is fine, college students are meant to struggle. Right?

Anyway, I make it to the library sporting my favorite black sweatshirt, paired with faded black leggings (I'm obviously quite the fashionista). After a few expected connectivity issues, CNN finally decides to include me in the political gossip.

I sit in the professor's chair of a library classroom, and project a live stream of CNN onto the large white thing (I'm sure there's an official name for it, in which case Google will inform me later).

Ah, found it. Despite what Mrs. Hootie, my second grade librarian, would say, you can indeed always count on Wikipedia!

Between my professors, the news, and social media, my anticipation for this Republican showdown was higher than Jeb Bush 40 years ago.

By the start of the debate my tweets were coming one after the other, additionally like my Facetime calls to my sister asking, through a mouthful of laughs, "Did you just hear that?"

After my third call, I thought...wait, I think I have something here. This is when I started a list of the 5 most memorable quotes from the second 2015 GOP Republican debate. And what's a list without a blog? So, here you have it.

1. Because I'm pretty sure I would be classified as "a hater" if I failed to admit Donald Trump wins the award for the most quotable candidate, I gave him the first spot on my list with this Trumply statement.

"First of all, Rand Paul shouldn't even be on this stage."

If that didn't make you LOL, then honestly, I don't know what would. This hysterically honest comment was an obvious low blow at Paul's not-so-high polling, including a record breaking 1% in a poll. Sorry Paul, I hate to say it, but Trump kinda has a point here.

2. Pardon me for abusing the existence of chronological order, but because this list is categorized in MOST memorable order, Jeb Bush undeniably deserves #2 for his honest confession of his previous love for that good good.

"So, 40 years ago I smoked marijuana."

Thanks for letting us know, but hey, Mr. Bush? I don't think America was too surprised by that one. Who hasn't?

3. I can honestly say, I didn't waste any mascara batting my eyelashes at Carly Fiorina...before last night that is. #3 proudly goes to my newest girl crush for this bad*ss, confident thought.

"I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said."

I was born in 1995, so I'm classified as a "woman" now, right? Either way, YASS Carly!!! Despite his lame attempt to go back on his word, we undoubtedly heard what Trump said...every news organization made sure of it.

4. I can't tell if this 4th one is me being an anti-Christie gal or if this is in fact a mouthful of bullsh*t.

"A Christie presidency won't be about me. It will be about you."

Oh. Whatever dude. Barf. Like we haven't heard THAT before. Puhlease. If that's your most persuasive quote, I only have 4 words for you..."Save.It.For.Mabel."

5. I don't think it's obsessive of me to place Trump twice on such a short list. Refuse to share this blog if I'm wrong, but wasn't Trump the star of the show? Especially after this snarky remark about Kentucky Senator Rand Paul.

"I never attacked him on his look, and believe me, there's plenty of subject matter right there."

AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!!! Trump, I never want you as my president, but honestly, I don't get why you allowed Colbert to take the late night spot when it is you the country wants to laugh with!

So, despite what Bernie Sanders had to say,

after 3 hours of a fantastically entertaining debate, I think it's fair to say the what seemed to be hundred mile hike and continuous connection problems were well worth the wait. Especially after Vine came out with this much needed video of Trump's priceless faces...

Shout out to the Republican candidates for keeping nothing classy during this baboonish broadcast. Until next time my conservative frenemies. Peace!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
