Top 12 Most Ridiculous Things Guys Have Said To Me

Sometimes I'm not sure if guys pay attention to the things that they say to me.

1. "I'm turned on by commitment."

I once told a guy that I did not want to make-out with him because I knew that I would get emotionally attached to him. He then proceeded to tell me that "commitment" and me being emotionally attached to him was a turn on for him.

2. "It's *insert friend's name here*. I like *insert friend's name here*"

After having about a three hour long conversations, with one of my exes who I was still friends with at the time, about really deep and personal stuff, I decided that I liked him again and it would be worth a shot. Right before I got a chance to tell him that, he tells me he likes one of my close friends. Only a few days prior he told me that I was the one for him.

3. "Plans Change."

After finally telling my crush that I liked him and being extremely excited that he called me cute and funny, he said that he wanted to wait until sophomore year of college to date (we were in 11th grade at the time). I knew I'd be fine waiting because he was worth it. A couple months later he then proceeds to tell me that he's dating one of my friends and when I asked him about waiting until sophomore year of college he tells me, "plans change."

4. "You're so beautiful baby. You totally made my night."

Now, I know that this sounds extremely sweet, but it's actually slightly terrifying when it's coming from a grown man (probably in his 50's) who happened to pull up next to me at a stop light.

5. "I wanna give you a gift...show you a good time if you know what I mean."

The person that this came from I had met two days earlier while I was at work. TWO DAYS!

6. "I'm tired of lying to you...everything I've ever said to you was a lie...don't listen to me if I try to get back with you because I'm probably lying."

This is the best way my ex could think to break up with me...the second time. The first time he told me he had done somethings he wasn't proud of.

7. "You can't get over your past relationships."

This is what one of my exes told me when he broke up with me the second time. My past relationship was from him breaking up with me the first time.

8. "I was praying the other day for God to show me the perfect girl and I woke up this morning and the first thing I saw was you."

First of all, don't play the God card on me! Second of all, the only reason I was 'the first thing he saw' was because got a notification that it was my birthday.

9. "I'm not going to be your bae on the side!"

This lovely statement, came from a guy who I didn't even like at the time...or ever. He said that he was firmly confident that I had a crush on his friend (which I didn't) and I was using him to get to his friend.

10. "Can I pleeeeeease have a donut."

My then boyfriend begged me to take him to get a donut, so I did. We got there, he picked out his donut and everything, and then after he had his donut and it was time to pay, he gave me a look that said, "You're paying for this." The boy didn't even have any money!

11. "I really think that you're the one for me! Let's wait until after college to try it again."

This came from one of my exes who after I asked him what his plan for his life were, he decided to proclaim his love for me and tell me I was the one for him. So instead of acting on it and maybe being friends for a couple of months to a year, he wants to wait until after college. Also, this is the same guy who told me he liked one of my friends after telling me that I was the one. He claimed that he had just said I was the one "in the moment".

12. Anything along the lines of, "I love you, I want to marry you, will you marry me?"

As pathetic as this sounds, I have been unofficially engaged maybe three times by now because guys would always ask me to marry them. They'd also say they loved me and then leave...it seems as though it's just a ridiculous line to use to get girls hooked.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
