TV By The Numbers

Being a girl is not easy. The world of women is basically a giant clusterf*ck of drama and a roller coaster of emotions. The term "girl code" has been thrown around so much that MTV even made a TV show based on the unwritten rules of womanhood. Here are the top 11 unwritten girl code rules.

1. Keep each others secrets

Girls gossip, simple as that. When your best friend tells you something in complete confidence, it should stay between you two. Never open your mouth to anyone about a secret your girlfriend told you.

2. Don't date a friend's ex

Gretchen Weiners said it perfectly: "Ex-boyfriends are just off limits to friends... I mean like, that's just like, the rules of feminism".

3. Rescue your friend who is being hit on by a creep

The bar can be a sketchy place and when your bestie is getting hit on by someone she is clearly not interested in, girl code says you do what you can to get her out of that predicament. Fake phone call or the emergency "I need to tell you something" interruption are perfect go-to's.

4. Wait until your friend gets inside before you drive away

You do this so that you can guarantee she doesn't get kidnapped by some guy hiding in the bushes... or to make sure she has her keys on her after a night out and a sleep over at your house.

5. Let your friend vent when she needs to

No worse feeling than needing a shoulder to cry on while you b*tch about the mess that has become your life. We all need a little vent sesh on girl nights with a bottle (or three) of wine.

6. Give out tampons to a girl in need

We have all been there. If you have an extra tampon floating around your purse (girl code: always keep an extra tampon in your bag), then give it to your friend before her favorite pair of jeans gets ruined.

7. Don't abandon drunk friends

Similarly, to Girl Code rule #3 and #4, don't leave your friend when she is wasted because you never know what creep is just waiting to make his move when you walk away. Just not safe to let your best friend wander the strip of bars alone and drunk. Walk her home at the end of the night, even if you have to put her on a leash.

8. Let a girl know if she has lipstick on her teeth

Or if her hair is out of place, or if her bronzer isn't blended perfectly... #girlcode

9. Be there for your friend through her relationship problems

Doesn't matter if you hate the guy she is hooking up with/dating. Break ups are the one of the hardest things for a girl to cope with. Be there with a tub of her fav ice cream and a bottle of her fav wine.

10. Make sure no one looks bad in the group picture

Before posting that picture on Instagram, make sure everyone (not just yourself) looks good. Nothing meaner than posting a picture that you look gorg in but your friend looks like a mess because she wasn't paying attention. Don't be selfish with your insta-game.

11. Boost each other's confidence

There is too much girl-bashing nowadays. We should look out for each other and make girls, whether you know them or not, feel good about themselves. Meet a girl in the bathroom at the bar? Remind her that she looks pretty as she reapplies her lipstick. Stop putting other girls down, #girlcode.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
