Most people have a bucket list filled with things they want to do, places they want to go and people they want to meet before they die. I am one of those many people and have an extensive bucket list that’s as long as the Mississippi River. There are so many places I want to visit before I die, but here is my top 10.
1. Russia
People ask me all the time, “Why Russia?” And most of the time, I don’t have a real answer for them. But I know in my heart that’s where I want to go. There is so much culture, history and art wrapped into one ridiculously large and cold country. This place has been on the top of my list since I learned about it in my history class during my freshman year of high school. It’s so beautiful and one place I really want to visit before I die.
2. Prague
This city to me looks like Hogwarts reincarnated in the middle of Eastern Europe. The gothic architecture and lively city are some of the most beautiful that this city has to offer for someone whose goal in life is to fill their passport with stamps of their travels.
3. Tahiti
This may come as a surprise to a lot of people who know me. For those who don’t, I am most certainly not a beach person. But Tahiti has water so blue you can see the bottom and those huts in the middle of the ocean that you can stay in. Seriously, that place is my #goal.
4. Canada
“Canada’s cold, are you sure?” “Why do you want to go there?” these are the typical questions I am asked when I tell people I want to go to Canada and all the time I answer, “It’s a beautiful place with so many cool cities!” cities like Montréal and Ottawa have culture and have the amazing sport known as hockey. I love how dedicated Canadians are to hockey like Americans are to football.
5. England
Yeah, I know, everyone wants to go to England. But I’ve wanted to go for as long as I can remember. Hell, I even have my room designed like it. I want to go see all the historic buildings like Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London where they chopped off people’s heads. Yes, I also know England can be rainy and damp but that’s what appeals to me so much.
6. Rome
I took Latin in high school and have been hooked on Rome ever since. Rome is a beautiful place with buildings like the Coliseum and the Circus Maximus. Also known for good food, but that’s beside the point. Rome has more history than I can imagine, and it’s a beautiful place.
7. Monaco
Every girl has a dream of becoming a princess one day. I know I went through that phase. Monaco was the home of Grace Kelly, who I’m sure every girl who wants to find someone who will make her feel like a princess knows. Monaco is beautiful, and I only hope to have the luck that Grace Kelly had.
8. Paris
Paris is a place of beauty, lights, art, dance, love and history. I can only dream of walking around the city of love with someone I love. Paris has held a special place in my heart for many reasons. It has beautiful places like the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe and fashion that my best friend is sure to enjoy.
9. Greece
Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by beautiful buildings, water as blue as the sky and gorgeous men who look like they stepped out of a Calvin Klein commercial? If you don’t, you are out of your mind. Greece is filled with all those things and more such as old buildings like the Parthenon for all the history nerds like myself, beaches for those who like to sunbathe and gorgeous men for every woman on the face of the earth.
10. South Africa
OK, this one is relatively new. I love animals but am too scared to go on a safari and the zoo is cute but I want to just reach out and touch an elephant or take a selfie with an animal in their natural habitat.
Well, the phrase holds true for me — if traveling were free, you would never see me again. I love to travel and these are a few of many places I want to see before I die.
