The Top 10 Places To Study For Finals Off-Campus In Athens, Ga.

Places on campus to study become harder and harder to find the closer finals get. This means many people will be looking for alternative places to study off campus. When you get bored of studying in your room all day, here are a few places to try out around Athens.

1. Jittery Joe's

Jittery Joe's has several off-campus locations in Athens, including ones in Five Points, Alps Road, Epps Bridge, and the East Side. All of the locations have both indoor and outdoor seating. They offer a stamp card that you can use to earn a free drink after buying 10, so this is ideal if you plan on needing a lot of coffee. Hours: Vary depending on location

2. Earth Fare

Earth Fare is located in the middle of Five Points at 1689 S. Lumpkin Street While it is mainly an organic grocery store, they also have seating inside and outside with plenty of outlets to charge your devices. Earth Fare is perfect if you like being able to have snacks available to you at all times because you can stock up on healthy, tasty treats to fuel your studying. Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

3. Two Story

Two Story is a coffee shop in Five Points at 1680 S. Lumpkin St. Since it is located in an old house, there is seating available on the front porch, inside on the main floor, and on the second floor. The second floor is usually more quiet than the main floor if you need that kind of environment to get work done. They serve coffee and non-coffee drinks as well as a few snack options. Hours: Sun. - Thurs. 7:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. and Fri. and Sat. 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.

4. Hendershot's

Hendershot’s is located at 237 Prince Ave. and has a variety of seating options. There are tables, bar seats, and couches inside as well as tables outside. The best feature is the large open window they have for days when it is nice outside. There is a variety of coffee and non-coffee drink options as well as bakery treats and yogurts. If you are craving more than just a snack, they also serve breakfast and lunch. Hours: Mon. to Thurs. 6:30 A.M. to 11:00 P.M., Fri. 6:30 A.M. to 12:00 A.M., Sat. 7:30 A.M. to 12:00 A.M., Sun. 7:30 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.

5. Sips

Sips is located in Normaltown at 1390 Prince Ave. They have and indoor seating and outdoor seating. The inside area is small and quiet with large windows, perfect for focusing. There is a variety of drinks and food options including muffins and gluten free brownies. They have multiple Wi-Fi options to ensure fast internet. Hours: Mon. to Fri. 6:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Sat. 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., and Sun. 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.

6. Walker's

Walker’s is located Downtown at 128 College Ave. Though it stays pretty busy, there is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. If you walk to the back, there is an open back deck with booths and bar seating. This is a good place to go if you do not mind some noise while working. They have a variety of drinks as well as a full menu of food. It is open extremely late, but only because it transforms into more of a bar environment later in the night. Hours: 7:00 A.M. to 2:00 A.M.

7. Einstein's Bagels

Einstein’s is located Downtown at 259 E Broad St. There is seating that can accommodate any type of studying. If you are there alone, there are single chairs. If you’re with a small group, there are booths. And if you are with a large group, there are also long tables. Einstein’s is known for their bagels, but they also have really good lemonades and coffee. Hours: 6:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. daily

8. Dunkin Donuts

There are two Dunkin Donuts in Athens, one off the corner of Prince Ave. and the other on the East Side. Dunkin Donuts is extremely affordable and usually has plenty of open tables. If you pay for your food and drinks through their mobile app, you get “DD points,” which can earn you free drinks as well as discounts. They also occasionally will give out random free treats through the app. Hours: Prince Ave. 5:00 A.M. to 12:00 A.M. and Gaines School Rd. 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.

9. Starbucks

While there are over five Starbucks in the Athens area, the best Starbucks to study at are the one downtown and the one in Oconee. These Starbucks both have indoor and outdoor seating including couches and tables. Right now, their new rewards program lets you become a gold member with purchase of any drink for a limited time only. Hours : Vary depending on location

10. The Botanical Gardens

The Botanical Gardens are located off of UGA’s main campus at 2450 S. Milledge Avenue. If you’re feeling outdoorsy, the Botanical Gardens has plenty of places for you to study. The environment is quiet and beautiful, making it easy to focus if you have a lot of reading to do. Bring a blanket and a friend and study outside all day. Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
