To My Roommate:

Thank you, and I love you.

To My Roommate:
Brooke Meyers

Dear roomie,

First of all, I just wanted to apologize. I know I can be the world's biggest pain in the ass sometimes, and the fact that you still choose to live with me really amazes me. I'm way too needy most of the time, and I do things like beg you to come to Starbucks with me even though you should probably be doing homework, or make you tag along with me on late night Wal-Mart runs because I don't want to go alone. Pretty often, when I'm stressed out or just too tired, I leave my clothes on the floor and sometimes I'm a little too loud while I get ready in the morning and you're still sleepy, so I'm sorry for all my annoying habits that you have to put up with.

Second of all, I wanted to tell you how much I look up to you. Your strength and motivation towards the things that you love inspires me every single day, and I know that living with you has made me a better person. You encourage me to chase after the goals that I have and you don't let me slack off. Watching how dedicated you are towards improving yourself reminds me daily that I need to work harder. But no matter how successful you are, you still never fail to be compassionate and kind towards me when I mess up or fail, and that means the world to me. You're not only my roommate but have also become one of my best friends. I know I always have your unfailing love and support, and that keeps me going in the back of my mind whenever things get tough.

Next, I wanted to say thank you. For always being my shoulder to cry on when I mess up that job interview, or that boy breaks my heart, or my other friends are causing drama in my life that I don't want to deal with. For always understanding why I'm upset without me even needing to explain it, and always telling me the truth even if it's not what I want to hear. For all the movie nights, coffee and dinner dates, and goofy memories that we've made that I will always remember. For laughing with me when I'm hyper and no one else wants to deal with me, for letting me cry to you when no one else wants to hear it. For always including me in everything you do, even if it just means inviting me to dinner with you and your other friends, or bringing me out for the night with you. For listening to me rant no matter how annoying it is, and for letting me tell you stupid, pointless stories about my day. For always knowing how to calm me down and make me laugh.

Last, I just wanted to tell you that I love you! I don't know many people lucky enough to live with one of their best friends or to have someone around 24/7 who supports and motivates them. I'm so glad to have you because my life wouldn't be the same without you in it, and I don't know what I would do without you.

With love (and apologies for being such a pain),

The luckiest roommate ever.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
