It is NOT too late. Do not spend four years constantly miserable. No it won’t be worth it in the end. If you are not happy doing what you are doing now, then what makes you think you will be happy later? This is the start to the rest of your life and you deserve to be happy. You are not at college to impress anyone but yourself. Learn what you love, learn what you hate. Change your major. Change your major again. This is your life and you are in control.

In high school, they put a lot of pressure on “where are you going to school?” and “what are you majoring in?” So much pressure that you feel like you have to have your whole college career figured out. But the truth is, you are allowed to change your major. The major you chose in high school is not permanent. You don’t have to have your whole life figured out. As much as we would love to all pick a major and a career and stick to it sometimes it doesn’t work out that way. And it is okay.

Just because you thought you had your whole life figure out when you arrived at college, doesn't mean you actually do. Don't feel bad when you don't succeed at something. Be happy because you tried and found out that was not for you.

I’m here to tell you changing your mind is normal. I came to college super passionate about what I wanted to do. But here I am, in the first semester of my sophomore year totally confused and distraught. Everything I have ever dreamed is not what I want anymore. Most importantly, I want to be successful in whatever I do and that for me meant it is time to change my major and possibly career path.

Find what you love. Take advantage of these years. This is your time to explore. To change your mind. To figure you out.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
