To the Person Who Believes in Love

Some people think you’re crazy. They call you naive, immature, unrealistic. They laugh at you, feel sorry for you, wish that they could bestow their immense wisdom on your simple mind. They try to corrupt your sense of optimism and contentment. Here is a piece of advice— don’t let them.

Don’t let one ignorant person extinguish your hope. Many pessimistic people walk this earth— some of them will try to push their bleak and fatalistic views into your life. Truth is, they are probably jealous. Jealous that you can walk around while looking forward to the future, despite the infinite unknowns. You trust that someday you will experience a type of euphoria stronger than you could ever imagine. They don’t get to experience this luxury. Not because they can’t be loved or love others, but because they lack the faith and willingness to love. They only see the world as full of cruelty and darkness. But your view is far superior. Because without hope, without love, is life really worth living?

So many people let one or two instances forever alter their worldview. And while this is understandable to an extent, it is tragic that they allow the moments of pain and misfortune to outweigh and dampen their following joy and triumphs. Wicked people walk this earth, but fortunately, they are far outnumbered by those who are benevolent, gracious, and earnest. Continue to focus on these people— don’t let one dark speck ruin the entire beautiful picture.

If you believe in love, but haven’t felt it yet, don’t worry. It can happen at any moment: five hours, five months, or even five years from now. Most likely when you least expect it. But when the moment does come—the moment when you fall deeply in love—accept it. Embrace it with open arms. Don't be afraid. Keep an open mind, because even if it doesn’t come at a seemingly ideal moment, with the right person, the instance will be perfect in ways you never thought possible. It will continue to change your life for the better until you can hardly remember a time before you first felt this overwhelming, awe-inspiring emotion called love.

Believe in love. You may not have experienced it yet, and you may not tomorrow, but someday you most definitely will. And it will be the most beautiful, astonishing feeling. It will be worth all the pain and struggles that preceded it. Soak up this emotion as much as you can. Love deeply, and love often. Love your neighbor, love your surroundings, love your life. Because even though society is losing sight of love’s value, it remains the most powerful force in existence.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
